-Red and eerie appeared the narrow canopy. Small, curious steps lead her to its worn out edge. She stopped and looked down the city rushing beneath her feet. Busy roads teemed with many blinks of vehicles. Their Headlights appeared as fireflies flickering across rain-soaked paths like someone had set them free from his stern fist.

A rash wind hit her legs and swirled around her knees.
'You aren't going to jump. Are you?'

He asked steadily and worriedly.
'No, I am not. I just wanted to see what it's like to be one step away from death.'

She answered. Her eyes focused on her feet and the road beneath.
'Then get back here. It's enough. That's not a safe place to stand over.'

He admonished her.
'You know, you never heal completely heal of your wounds. A pinch stays there. Always.'

She swayed her foot in the air and almost lost her balance.
'Get back here!'

He shouted at her.
'Not anymore.'

Another rash blow of wind and she fell off the edge, smiling and mocking at him.
There was a splash and Many colors crossed his face in those tiny fractions of time. He ran towards the edge to see if she was saved by some miracle.
He let out a cry. She was alive, floating and smiling. She had fell right into a fountain. The same fountain where they had first met.
'Told ya! wanted to see what it's like to be a step away from death.

Look at yourself. You were just a step away from death.'

She laughed.
He kneeled down to his knees and let himself break with the fear he had just experienced. Fear of never seeing her again. Fear of dying with her death.
The wind hissed in his ears under the red light as he muffled many cries.
