Chapter 3- Who is She?

Skye

    We just stood there as Saphira turned around but she looked so different. She was more confident and wearing all black and she didn't look like the quiet book-loving friend she knew. Bella looked surprised as well which means that she wasn't originally wearing this. Bella saw one of her friends with blondish hair laying on the bed with her leg wrapped and started to go over to her but almost fell and ended  up limping over to the bed and sitting down in pain herself. "Bella!" The girl on the bed exclaimed. "It's ok Soph, just an old injury that's all." Bella told her. "No Bella it's not the last time I saw you limp and sit down like that you fell off Flicker and that was a bad injury, so you stay there and let my look at it." Saphira told her not giving her a choice and bringing a chair over. Bella looked at her in shock obviously not use to Saphira behaving this way but put her leg up on the chair. Saphira sat down and started to look at her leg when Sarah pulled Skye over.
By this time they were in the room and waiting but Sarah pulled her to the corner. "That's Saph! What's she doing here, and what's with her outfit Bella's her friend also but she was shocked to see her like that as well, oh this is confusing." Sarah said. "I'm as stumped as you Sarah but I do know that Saph knows it's us and also knows that lizard, not to mention how she's acting." Skye replied. "There done." Saphira said from where she was. "Okay then I have some questions for you Saph." Sarah said. "You know each other?!" Bella asked surprised. "Ya, Bella you obviously already meet them but Bronwyn, Sophie this is Skye and Sarah, Skye and Sarah this is Bronwyn and Sophie." Saphira said getting introductions done with. "Oh and this is Dagger." She said pointing to him on her left shoulder. "And you know them how?" Sophie asked. "Well Skye and Sarah go to the same school as me now and I meet Dagger the last time I was here." Saphira replied. "You've been here before?!" Bella asked. "Um... ya... actually... do you remember that one time I was gone from school on an immediate unknown vacation for an unknown amount of time." Saphira replied. "Obviously, it's kind of hard to forget, you came back so exhausted, beaten, and scratched you couldn't come to school for a week and even then you were tired, you also pushed us away for a bit." Bella said. "Well... that so called vacation was here." Saphira said getting furious. Skye cut in "Shouldn't we focus on getting out?" She asked. "Not until I can look around, and Bella and Sophie can heal. Also, you two need horses because we already have our own. Not to mention I need to find the horses, besides you need to learn to ride and fight not to mention run fast for a while." Saphira explained. "I can already run fast for a while, even while injured." Bella said. "How?" Sarah asked. "I'm a athlete." Bella replied simply. "Well after Dagger took so long to find you it's getting dark, we should all sleep and we can get other supplies like blankets from other rooms, don't bring a blanket for me and grab a pillow for Bella's ankle. Bring eight chairs in and if you want some for you to lay on. I'll stay here with Sophie and Bella so they don't go anywhere." Saphira told everyone. No one argued and did what Saphira told them.
When everyone got back from collecting the stuff Saphira told them to they all came back and put it down. "All right so Sophie will sleep on the bed using the pillow she's using now to support her leg, Bella you use two chairs and put a pillow on the chair your feet will be on and put your leg on the pillow, Bronwyn you can sleep where you did last night, and Sarah and Skye you can use chairs or the floor." Saphira went over to the blankets and gave everyone one of them. "What about you Saph?" Skye asked. "I'll sleep where I did last night." She replied. "But what about a blanket?" Sarah asked making Skye's question clearer. "Don't need one." She replied. Wierd she always seems to have something on because she says she's cold. I shouldn't worry about it tonight. And with that she was asleep.

    Saphira once again only slept for a few hours then got up and sat against wall she was sleeping on. Dagger walked over to her 'Trouble sleeping?' He asked. 'Sort of, I just don't like sleeping here, I just keep remembering what happened last time I slept through the night, even at home I'll sometimes wake up and go back to sleep. Being here left...-for lack of a better word...-an impression on me and it was not a good one.' Saphira told him.  'Ahh. Well goodnight I didn't get any sleep last night so I have to now.' Dagger said curling up in Saphira's lap. 'Goodnight.' Saphira told him stroking his head. Saphira laid back thinking of the last time she was here and what happened the last time she was here and the time she slept through the night, she didn't want that to happen to any of her friends. After a while Dagger woke up and told Saphira it was morning and she let Dagger crawl up onto her shoulder and she went wake up her friends. After she woke up her friends she arranged the chairs into a circle around the bed, helping Sophie sit up and Bella put her leg on the bed. Saphira had everyone sit down then sat down herself, Dagger now asleep on her shoulder. "First why are we doing this, second does anyone have any reason why we are here, third what the heck is this place?" Bella asked. "You mean why were in a circle? And we'll get to why we're here, and this place, it's a prison." Saphira said the last part with no emotion which scared everyone. "Why are we in a circle?" Bella asked. "Because it's easier to talk this way." Saphira told her. "Talk about what exactly?" Sophie asked. "I was getting to that." Saphira snapped. Sophie flinched back. "Sorry, I don't like this place and and it makes my patients thin." Saphira said. ""Anyway as I was saying we need to get out of here as soon as possible but we can't do that with two people injured on the leg or foot so we either have to wait for them to heal or make a brace and hope for the best. Not to mention actually getting out and away fast enough. I know that Bella, Bronwyn, Sophie, and I have transportation but I don't know about you two." Saphira said looking at Skye and Sarah for the last part. "I also don't know where they are keeping them but that can be talked about later." Saphira had continued. "Okay, will you tell us about your transportation." Skye said. "Our horses, we were riding when we were captured so they're probably are here." Bronwyn said. "Yep exactly right." Saphira said. "So how would you feel about getting a brace and once were out you can both heal?" Saphira asked, more to Bella and Sophie. "I would like to stay because as much as I don't like this place I don't want my scab ripping open and causing more of a problem." Sophie said. "Okay that's fine, Bella?" Saphira said asking what her other friend would want to do. "As much as I hate to admit it, I need my ankle to heal if we want to be able to be able to help and if I want to be able to play sports properly after we leave as well." Bella replied. "All right now that that's settled let's relax for a bit, we can't do too much if we want to make an escape plan while Bella and Sophie are resting. So you do what you want, I'm taking a nap." Saphira said going to the corner she slept in the night before, sat down and fell asleep.
    After Saphira fell asleep the others started talking. "I don't know about you but this is not the Saphira I know so well, taking a nap, NEVER, also, she's acting much more confident in herself, also she's become so secretive." Bella said. "I think that maybe this is how she's always been but she's been too afraid to show it, but now that we're here it's the only way she knows how to be now. Although this is not the quiet person that keeps to herself that we know." Sarah said. The girls thought about it for a few minutes. "It's true that she was very jumpy after she came back to school one time when she had been sick about a month or so, she also closed up a lot after that happened." Bronwyn said. "Before anyone says anything else, what happened?" Skye asked. "Back when Saphira still attended our school for about a month sometime near the end of the year she suddenly wasn't there one day and was gone for over a week and that's when we got suspicious, her parents said she went on an unexpected holiday and wasn't able to tell anyone, and then a week after she got back we saw her one night and she was barely standing, limping and completely exhausted. After she was back her parents said that she couldn't come to school because she needed to sleep and relax, which was weird for and random unexpected holiday. Not only that but she became really quiet after that, she wouldn't speak up or talk much. She just read and only spoke if the teacher called on her. She also always sat alone or as alone as possible at lunch, though I don't think we really helped with that." Sophie said.  "How?" Skye asked. They all just looked at the ground and sort of shuffled their feet and Sarah was getting angry when Bronwyn finally said "We kind of ended up getting a bit farther apart..." Trailing off. "How?" Sarah asked curiously. "Well you see Sophie left our school when she moved to a different part of the city, and we were kind of avoiding her." Bella said kicking her foot that wasn't injured at nothing in the air swinging it back down then letting them hit the bed bouncing off. Sarah and Skye were sort of shocked, "No wonder were really her only two close friends..." Sarah trailed off. The other girls looked shocked, "You're her only two close friends?" Bella asked."Well yeah. She likes to stay to herself and I don't really blame her after that." Skye said.
    About half an hour later Saphira got up and stretched, "Anything happen while I was asleep?" She asked. "Nope, everything was quite surprisingly." Bronwyn said. Just then Dagger scurried up to Saphira's shoulder and said something in lizard. Saphira frowned. "Well it looks like things are about to get interesting. Everyone stay behind me no matter what." She told them going over to where she slept and grabbed her sword. Everyone got behind Saphira and Dagger climbed onto Sarah's shoulder. Saphira pulled out her sword and people came through the door with weapons. Saphira got in a fighting stance and closed her eyes. They snapped open again when the first person came to attack. She fought like she trained and studied for years and defeated everyone that came through door. After everyone had run away in terror, Saphira sheathed her sword and put a hand over her face, fingers splayed. She walked over and sat down on the bed then said. "Alright here's the plan."
    The girls looked shocked when Saphira told them about the place and how it use to be a safe area now used as a 'prison'. She also explained that they had to search the halls for escape routes though whenever they left the room there had to be at least one other person with them. Though until they learned to fight they would have to stay in the room.
