Chapter 7Saphira
It was cold. Nothing but cold now, no light, no warmth, no friends, no life. Just the cold. I knew what was going on, even if I should've been worried, I wasn't. I just laid there, embracing the cold that didn't affect me, waiting, like a lifeless doll that did nothing until the owner decided to play. That's what I was then, a doll, waiting to be picked up. Suddenly there was a light, it wasn't warm, it was just there. The light didn't affect me like it should have after being in the dark for so long. I just laid there, staring at the ceiling. My mind was hazy, not working properly I laid on the metal bed and felt the cold against my back. I waited for the pain in my arm but instead felt something loosen. I looked over, my mind still blank. I saw someone, not familiar but I sat up, now free from my bonds. I looked over and the person, a man and tilted my head. "Oh, a marvelous creature indeed. How did you find her, and get her in this state? She is obviously strong willed." The man said in a light voice. "We tricked her, not a strategy I'm proud of but there was no other way." A gruffer voice said. I blinked slowly and looked over to the other person in the room. I knew this had happened to me before and so, I knew what I had to do to snap out of it though that could be dangerous for me at the moment. Suddenly the door swung open and a man ran in, panting. "They-they're gone. The other girls, we were tricked." The man said. The two men turned to me, furious and I smiled weakly. I knew that it was time to shake the haze off and I concentrated, sitting in the same place, not moving. "What's she doing." The bulkier man said angrily. "Wait, the haze might be going into full effect." The thinner man said. I smiled and lashed out at them. I kicked the thin man off his feet and smashed into the bulkier man, knocking him off balance. I rushed to the door, flying past the man that came in. I ran out of the door and knew where I was surprisingly. I ran down the hall, going as fast as I could without using my ability. I skidded to a stop when Lightning came to the end of the hall. "That's what you were doing before I knocked you out. Talking to that pest that's your pet." Lightning said angrily. "You expected to be captured and let them escape." I smiled and closed my eyes before snapping them open again and pushing myself forward, supring Lightning and I slipped past him. He chased after me and I ran, I ran as fast as I could, turning, corner after corner, passing door after door until I got to where I wanted to be. I smiled sadly, looking back before jumping up, getting up through the trapdoor and I pulled myself up. I continued to run, as I ran a few tears fell down my face. When I felt I was far enough away I did what I hadn't done in a long long time. I used my ability as much as I could and took on an attribute of an animal. I closed my eyes and thought of Blaze, thought of her running and felt speed coursing through my veins. I ran, I ran and ran, as fast as a horse. I ran to the only place I knew I could go at the moment. I had to go to Black Light's, I smiled at the thought of seeing my friend again but it was getting late and I had to rest. I found found a tree and and climbed up it as far as I could go without it breaking. I held onto the thick branch and fell asleep, looking at the moon high in the sky.
Skye
"What's going on?" I asked. "According to Dagger you should leave tomorrow, they will lead you to a house and you will stay their for a week. If Star doesn't catch up to you by then Dagger will lead you home." Naledi said. "What about Blaze?" Sarah asked. "She's staying at the house you will be going to and waiting for Star." Naledi told us. "You keep saying Star, is that what you call Saph?" Bella asked. "Saph, a name I haven't heard in awhile. The first name she said, the first word when she arrived at that place. To answer your question yes, I call Saph Star. You'll need to ask her why, she has her reasons." Naledi said. I was a bit confused about her original comments but didn't know what to say about them so I stayed quiet. "So if we're staying here today then what are we going to do?" Bronwyn asked. "You can relax, enjoy the sun, sleep inside, ride around on your horse, walk around the forest. If you're going into the forest then you should stay on the path." Naledi said. "Okay, thanks, thank you for letting us stay as well." Sophie said. "You're friends of Star, she sent you, of course I'll help." Naledi said. "Hey Bella, how's your ankle?" Sophie asked. "Fine now, being on Flicker for so long helped." Bella said and jumped on her right foot. "How about you Soph? How are you doing?" Bronwyn asked. "I'm doing a bit better but I don't think I'll be able to walk properly again for a little bit." Sophie said. She was standing awkwardly and leaning against Shimmer. "I'm going to out for a bit, I want to explore the forest a bit, Sarah, will you come with me?" I asked. "Sure, let's go." My friend said. "Okay then, we'll see you later then. I'll stay here with Sophie and you can all go do something." Bronwyn said. "You don't have to B, why don't you go explore." Sophie said. "Nah, I want to stay, I'll just read. I have a book in my saddlebags." Bronwyn said. Sophie shrugged and I started walking, pulling Sarah along with me. "See ya later." I called back then walked onto the forest path. Sarah followed me and I walked down the path. I walked into a clearing and looked around. "Sarah, isn't it amazing here?" I asked my friend. "It's beautiful, an amazingly diverse forest when it comes to trees and there are so many different animals!" Sarah said. I found it amazing how she knew everything out in nature. I heard a rustle in the area across the clearing and a pure black mate stepped out. The entire coat, mane, and tail of the mare was a midnight black. I looked at it, amazed. Sarah stepped forward and the mare looked up. It's eyes were a dark blue and it's ears were perked and alert. It walked over to Sarah and she looked up at it. Sarah started to put her hand up and the horse pressed its muzzle into it. "Aren't you a pretty girl." Sarah whispered. The horse nuzzled Sarah's shoulder and Sarah pet it's mane. I took a step forward and the horse looked up. "It's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you." I said softly and calmly. The horse nuzzled Sarah again and she smiled. "Sarah, it's almost noon, we should probably start back." I said. Sarah nodded and scratched the horse behind it's ear. "I'm sorry, I have to go. It was nice meeting you." Sarah said quietly and stepped back. She followed me and we followed the path back to Naledi's. We got back to the clearing that Naledi lived in and Sarah looked a bit sad. "What?" I asked. "Oh, nothing, I just really like that horse." Sarah told me. I heard a soft sound and looked back. "Well you won't have to leave it." I said. I clicked my tongue and the black horse came out. "It looks like it really liked you too." I told her as the horse came out. Sarah brightened up as she saw the horse. "You followed us." Sarah said happily as the horse walked up. It bobbed its head and Sarah pet it's neck. "You want to come with us?" Sarah asked it. The horse nuzzed Sarah and she smiled. A real smile I could tell, not just a fake smile put on to assure me or herself. The horse followed us to the back area of Naledi's home and Sarah looked at it. "I'm going to name you Phoenix." Sarah said. I thought the name was a bit silly for an all black horse but I didn't question it. Sarah led Phoenix over to the others and I followed safely to the left.
Blaze
I heard footsteps, and hooves? Why would hooves be coming back, because they obviously weren't from any of the horses that were here already. I looked over and saw Skye and Sarah walking up, Sarah leading... a black mare. I snorted angrily and turned away. I bent down and ate some grass, pretending not to see them. Sarah led the horse back and when I smelled the horse I stomped the ground, my head still down. "You okay Blaze?" Sarah asked coming up with the black horse. I snorted and turned around flicking my tail at the horse. "Blaze! What was that?!" Bella exclaimed coming up. "So this is the great Blaze, hmm, what's so special about a horse so dull." I whipped around when I heard her voice and reared up, coming down and almost hitting her. I snorted "We may be on your ground but that doesn't mean your better." I stated angrily. "Awe, is the little filly mad, that's too bad. She must hate looking bad in front of her friends." She said, obviously wanting me to get angrier. I nickered and troted off to the other side of the clearing and started eating. I heard hooves coming up and didn't look up. "Blaze? What was that about?" I heard Flicker's nervous voice. "It's nothing, don't worry about it." I said not wanting to say anything. "That was more than nothing Blaze." Shimmer said. "I said it's nothing." I said getting irritated. "Blaze, please we're your friends, the only other time I've seen you get like that was when there was a mountain lion and even then you didn't leave." Flare said. "I told you, it's nothing!" I snapped and stomped then turned and ran to the forest.
Saphira
I was running again, always running, remembering the way to my old friend. I stopped at noon and rested at a tree. I nibbled on some bread I had stored in my bag. I put it away when I ate a fourth of it and continued. I was exhausted and thirsty but there was nothing I could do about it for a while. I got up and ran again. Night was coming but I had to keep going. I continued running until the moon was a quarter through the sky and I found another tree. I climbed up and was about to sleep again when I heard something. They was hoofsteps. I tensed and stayed as still as possible. "Are you sure that they could have gotten this far?" I heard a female voice. "Definitely, the horses were probably waiting. They can get far in one day." I heard Lightning. I bit my lip and closed my eyes, holding onto the branch I was on to stay still. "Alright Bolt, I'm trusting you." The other person said. "Yes Wisp." Lightning said. "Let's go, we have to catch up if we're going to find them." Wisp said. Lightning got up and back onto the horse. Wisp got on behind him and I heard them leave. I shook off my drowsiness and got down from the tree. I started running again but this time I took on the attributes of a wolf. I ran and ran, hearing soft hoofsteps of a horse trotting at some point. By the time the sun was almost down I had climbed up a somewhat more frequent tree and tried to sleep some. I got onto a branch and held on. I fell asleep quickly and without much trouble.
Naledi
Star's friends left the morning after Sarah found Pheonix and Blaze freaked out. I had given Sarah a bridle for Phoenix and I had given them water skins and some dried apples, carrots, peaches, apricots, and some bread. After they left I tended to my garden and went on a walk. It was nice that I had company but it was also nice to be alone again. I walked through the forest with a basket and found my patch of wild berries. I picked some blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries before heading back home and relaxing after putting the berries away in covered bowls.
There we go, that's done. From now on I'm going to be trying to upload every three weeks and post all my stories at the same time. I hope you enjoyed, please comment and vote and until next time...
