Chapter 6
Saphira
I woke up and my arms, legs, and ankles were tied down. "Well she finally wakes up, I'm glad it's been boring just waiting." I heard Lighting say. I clenched my teeth and refused to say anything. "Oh come on, I know you're awake and it's not like you don't have anything to say to me." Lightning said walking to the edge of my bed. All I did was growl at him and turn my head away from him. "Aw, don't be like that." He said. I turned my head back to him then hissed in cat 'Fox-heart'. "Oh come on I know that was an insult." He said. I rolled my eyes and said in cat 'Well du'. "Really you aren't going to speak to me in a language I can understand?" You're no fun." He said. I glared at him then turned my head and closed my eyes. I heard him growl in frustration then walk out slamming the door behind him. I opened my eyes and moved my head to stare straight up at the ceiling. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes and a single tear ran down my face. 'I'll get out. I swear. I will get back to you all of you. I promise, cross my heart. I won't fail.' I said out loud in wolf.
Dagger
I rode stayed on Blaze as the horses galloped following Blaze to wherever she was talking them. Blaze stared straight ahead and just ran. "I'm sorry I had to ask you to do this Blaze, I know it's hard. I- it's hard for me to." I told her. "I know, I understand. L- let's just get to our first stop." Blaze told me. "Right." I said then was quite.
Bella
At some point I fell asleep on our ride and I woke up and instead of being in an open plain when we came out of the trap door we were starting to get more into a forest type area though not quite in an actual forest yet. The horses had slowed down to a trot and it was obvious they were following Blaze. I could see a forest up ahead and that Flicker was getting tired. I noticed that Flare and Shimmer were getting tired as well though Blaze just kept trotting along. When Blaze had gotten to the edge of an actual forest she stopped and kneeled down letting her riders step off.
"Ga."
"Ow."
"It hurts"
"It really hurts"
Were the responses as they stood up and were getting off. I got off Shimmer and she laid down resting her legs. The other horses did the same as their riders got off of them. I figured we weren't going to be going anywhere for a while so I sat down by a tree that was nearby and leaned against it. "Why are we stopping? We could keep going." Bronwyn said. "Maybe we can but the horses are definitely tired and I don't know if Sarah and Skye can keep going." I told her. "You're right I guess, but I don't know it seems weird just sitting here." Bronwyn said. "Come on Bronwyn, I don't think Blaze would have stopped if she didn't think it was safe. Besides we all need a rest come on, let's sit down." Sophie said coming to sit by me. Bronwyn looked up at the sky. "I don't know, it's getting dark. Are you sure we should be getting firewood?" Bronwyn asked. That's when Blaze got up and walked over to where we were and tapped her muzzle against Bronwyn's shoulder then scraped her hoof on the ground pointing to where Sophie and I were sitting. "I think she wants you to stay." Sophie said amused. She winned definitely in agreement and then went and laid down with the other horses. I noticed that Sarah and Skye were standing off to the side so I stood up, went over, grabbed their wrists(much to their surprise), and pulled them over to where we were sitting pushing lightly on there shoulders showing they should sit down. I went back and sat where I was sitting before and once again sat against the tree. It was quiet for a little bit with us just enjoying being outside when it started getting dark. "Are you sure we shouldn't have gone and gotten firewood, it's getting dark and it will get colder soon as well." Bronwyn said. "Now that would be a foolish idea." A voice said from the shadows of the trees. "What? Who's there?" Skye asked about to stand up before Sarah stopped her. "What? I'm just saying, it would be foolish because of what's around you. There are enough trees around and not enough space that not only would it get kind of smokey but you could start a forest fire, and that wouldn't be good." The person said walking out from the trees. It was a girl about our age with dark skin and obviously experienced in these woods. She had dark hair and was wearing all black. "If you don't mind could I ask what your doing here?" The girl asked. "Well you see-" Sarah was cut off when Blaze came over and nuzzled the girl. "Blaze?! What are you doing here? Where's Star?" The girl asked and that's when I got confused. I was about to say something but Blaze hung her head and the girl hugged her neck. "It'll be okay girl, Star is strong." The girl said. Then the girl turned to us. "I'm Naledi, nice to meet you all." She said. I then walked forward "I'm Bella, this is Bronwyn, Sophie, Sarah, and Skye." I said gesturing to my friends as I said their names. "Then these are our horses, Flicker is my girl, Shimmer is Bronwyn's, and Flare is Sophie's." I continued and the horses stood up as their name was said. "Nice to meet you all, now come on, it's getting dark. We should get going." Naledi said as she started walking. Sophie limped over to Flare, her leg obviously still bugging her and got on her Flare. Sarah and Skye decided to walk and I got on Flicker as my ankle was still bugging me a bit. Bronwyn just walked and Shimmer followed Blaze as Naledi walked next to her.
Naledi lead us to a clearing that had a little hut-like structure. It had a well off to the side and a pile of wood next to the hut with a tarp over the top and the sides exposed. The hut was more like a small wooden cabin. It looked a little beat up but still livable. "Come on, we better get inside for the night. The horses can stay outside for the night, Blaze you can show them where to stay right." Naledi said. Blaze nodded and neighed. Flare and Flicker knelt down and let us off. They got up and Blaze started walking to an open area next to the house. Naledi led us into her little hut and it was a lot like the outside. The entrance led to an old fashioned wash room with a bucket of water and a washboard. In front of us there was a small bedroom. Before the bedroom there was a turn and when you went to that area there was an open living/dining room-like space with a fireplace. After the living/dining room there was a kitchen. There was a staircase that went up to another bedroom, there was a bathroom, and a storage room. "It's not much but it's home." Naledi said as we went back to the living/dining room. "It's cozy, and you don't need much." Sarah said. Naledi nodded. "Anyway we better settle down for the night. Those of you that are injured sleep in the spare bedroom and those of you who aren't sleep in my living/dining room. I'll see you in the morning." Naledi said walking upstairs. "Alright, so I guess Sophie and I will sleep in the guest room and you guys will sleep here." I said. They all nodded in agreement and Sophie and I went to the guest room and got settled. "Night Soph." I said. "Night Bella." She said. We fell asleep and I didn't worry for the first time in a few weeks.
