Dipper walked down the street to the house of his new... friends? No, acquaintances for now. He'd gone to the café again earlier, but Pacifica either had a day off or just made sure not to be on cash register when he came in. He'd gone there almost everyday since his meeting with Ralph and Whitney trying to just get the chance to talk to her. That didn't work out.
Now though he pushed those thoughts away, he was determined to have a good time tonight. He needed it too. College applications were finally being responded to, the one he'd looked at up here in Washington being one that seemed very excited at having him come. He wanted a bit of time to enjoy himself before class took over his life.
As soon as he walked into the house he was greeted with the pleasant aroma of flowers and wine mingling together. Sadly he couldn't have the wine yet, he could use it right now.
And yes, he definitely could. That thought just grew when he spotted the head of blonde hair across the room, the girl's blue eyes gazing across a cup of sparkling water, a drink he remembered she liked very much, at another girl who seemed to be telling an elaborate story. Her friend paused briefly when she saw him, a sense of recognition seeming to cross her features (he would later remember her being another worker at the café). She quickly recovered and went back to talking to Pacifica, seemingly distracting her from his presence.
He pursed his lips. That was fine. He didn't want to make Pacifica uncomfortable. He'd keep his distance. Even if it hurt to do so. He needed to make sure he knew exactly how he would act before initiating any sort of conversation with her.
So he looked around for Ralph instead, going to him immediately after spotting him and greeting him. He wouldn't let tonight be ruined by any awkwardness between Pacifica and himself.
