Natsu sat on a bench outside of the hospital. He hated the scent of dextrose, medicine and all those other shits in the hospital, the only reason he's here is because of a certain girl. The girl that he's so desperately in love with, his first true love.
"Natsu, Lucy's awake." He heard Erza's voice and looked over his shoulder, he let out the breathe that he didn't notice he was holding "Thank God." He mumbled as he got up and entered the hospital.
He walked, passing by a lot of nurses and doctors, and just like that he's already in front of the room of Lucy. He pushed the door and there he sees Lucy attached with so many tubes "There's so many things attached to you now..." Natsu said, earning a chuckle from Lucy "But these 'things' attached to me are the ones that keep me alive, Natsu."
He shrugged and pulled a chair for him to sit beside Lucy. "How are you?" He asked, taking her hand and intertwining it "A little shitty but other than that I'm fine." Her delicate voice said, quite raspy since she just woke up. She used her free hand to brush her fingers on Natsu's cheek, cupping it. Natsu leaned on her hand and closed his eyes.
It's been 2 years since Lucy and Natsu started dating, and its been 2 months since they have heard the news of Lucy having cancer.
A huge chunk of tumor was right inside her heart, nothing and no one can heal it anymore. They just have to wait. Wait until Lucy will give up, and hopefully it won't be soon.
Natsy couldn't imagine his life without her. He can't imagine him walking alone along the hallways of Fairy Tail Academy without holding the hand of his blonde girlfriend. He can't imagine him not talking to her and when he misses her, he can't just go to her house and meet up with her.
It's because she's 60 feet underground.
Having that thought of Lucy dead makes him cry.
And he cried. Like legit cry, with all the tears that stream down his face.
Lucy's eyes widen in shock. He just cried, out of nowhere and now he's clutching her hand like it's his lifetime.
"Natsu?" She asked, trying to sit up and successfully did. She cupped his cheek with both of her hands, making him look directly at her chocolate brown eyes.
"Hey... What's wrong?" She was surprised by Natsu giving her a bone crushing hug, burying his face on the crook of her neck. He sobbed at the crook of her neck and Lucy pats Natsu on the back, having a few escaped tears on her face.
"Let's talk Natsu." She started "Even if it's just like this."
He nodded and Lucy held the back of Natsu neck, one hand on his pink hair.
"You know that I'll fight this and kick cancer's ass right?" Lucy questioned, Natsu chuckled at that "Yeah..."
Lucy sighed, feeling her heart ache and more tears build up.
"I want you to also know that I'm running out of fight..." She said as her voice cracked, Natsu felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach.
"I want you to promise me..." she lifted Natsu's head and place her forehead on his "that if I die, you'll move on, just don't ever forget me."
"How can I forget the best thing that ever happened to me?" He whispered, sadness written all over his face.
"Please don't die on me, Luce. Please tell me what you said earlier about running out of fights was just a joke. Please, Luce..." He pleaded, his ears desperate to hear 'I'm going to heal, Natsu.'
