Jack's POV

Sometimes, life sucks. Sometimes people are mean and their only intentions are to be little pains in me arse. But, as sceptical as you may be, their is someone looking out for you. And even at the worst times, they may not show up, but don't doubt them, because they know what their doing. I didn't believe in them either, I didn't believe that anyone would change me the way he did. But I'm glad that they exist. Because they brought me him.

It was the second week of 4th grade. I was the new little Irish kid who didn't know anyone or anything about what kids in America enjoyed. I didn't talk at all when I got there. I didn't want the kids to know what I sounded like. But 2 weeks in, I couldn't hide my voice anymore. "Sean, can you please answer the question on the board?" The teacher asked. I shook my head slowly, indicating I didn't want to answer the question, but she insisted. "Sean, please answer the question." She said, a bit more sternly this time. "B..Benj...Benjamin Franklin." I said finally. The whole class looked at one another wide eyed. "Very good, Thank you Sean." The teacher said smiling warmly at me then turning back to the white board to continue the lesson. She knew I was Irish so she wasn't surprised. But the rest of the class was. My seat partner Ken passed me a little note that read "why do you sound so weird?" I didn't answer, I just went back to focusing on the class. When the bell rang and it was time for recess. I bolted out of the room as fast as I could trying to make it to the other side of the play ground and hide in the big tree. But to no avail I was quickly grabbed by none other than ken and his friends Felix and Ryan. "Hey! You didn't answer my question in class. Why do you sound so weird?" Ken said gripping my wrist tightly. "I...um....I'm from Ire....Ireland." I said quietly hoping this would satisfy him and he would leave me alone. But no. That didn't happen. "From where?" Felix said with that dumb smirk on his face. "Ireland." I said once again. Ken grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and raised his fist. I prepared myself for the painful impact, but it never came. I opened one of my eyes to see a black haired boy holding Ken's fist. "Mark! Move over! I'm trying to punch the freak with lisp!" Ken yelled trying to shake mark off of him. "No! He doesn't have a lisp. He's from another country and he has an accent!" Mark yelled at Ken while holding out his arm out creating a barrier between Ken and I. "Whatever, How do you even know that!" Ryan yelled at mark. "My mom is Korean so I have relatives there who sound different too. But I don't go beating people up like a jerk!" Mark yelled back equally as loud. I was dumbfounded. Why was he standing up for me? I had never talked to him before yet he was literally willing to get punched for me. "Whatever. This isn't fun anymore anyway. You got lucky Ireland." Ken said before walking away with his friends. But not before I got some closure. "Hey Ken!" I yelled pushing Mark's arm down and walking up to Ken. "I may be from a different country, but at least I'm smart! Nice job on your math test by the way, Mr. 34%. unlike you, I have a brain, and I know that 7x3 is not 56." I said and then walked away seeing Ken run away humiliated out of the corner of my eye. I smiled to myself and then turned back to mark. "Wow! I didn't know you had that in you! I mean I had never heard your voice before today!" He said looking at me smiling widely. "Thanks. For standing up for me. It really means a lot!" I said sticking out my hand for a friendly handshake. But instead I was given a friendly and reassuring hug. "No problem dude, I know what it's like to be picked on by Ken and his friends. I think we both need a good friend we can count on! What do ya say Ireland? Wanna be friends?" Mark said smiling. "Yeah!" I said giving him another hug. And that's where it all started. After that Mark and I became best friends, we spent every minute together. Eventually when we got to high school Ken, Felix, and Ryan or Cry as we now call him, grew out of their immature bully phase and now the 5 of us are great friends! We love to play video games and be stupid and hyper. A little after that, When we were in 11th grade, Mark came out as Pansexual. Which can I tell you was a huge relief for me because I was bisexual and had had a huge crush on Mark since 9th grade. And it turned out he liked me too. We've been dating for 3 years now but I'm hoping to change that tonight. Me, Ken and his fiance Mary, Cry, Felix and his girlfriend Marzia, and Mark were all going out at dinner at the local diner. We sat around a circular table laughing and having a nice night. It was time. I stood up promptly and looked down at mark. "What are you doing?" Mark asked confused. I just smirked and bent down giving Mark a quick peck on the lips and then looking into his eyes. "this." I whispered and got down on one knee. He stared at me shock covering his face. "Mark, I never believed in Guardian angels, until the day you saved me from Ken punching me in the face for being Irish." Everybody laughed including a now teary eyed Mark. "When you came into my life everything changed for the better and I got to grow up side by side with the love of my life. I never thought you and I would be here. If somebody told me in 4th grade that I would be on one knee in the middle of a diner on a Saturday night proposing to Mark Fischbach I would have laughed in their face. But here we are. And I am so glad and so lucky, to have you. You have always shown me unconditional love, and you have made me feel safe and wanted every minute since the day I met you. And if you'll let me, I want to give you the same love back everyday for the rest of our lives. Mark Edward Fischbach, Will you marry me." I opened the box to reveal a shiny silver ring with engravings. Mark's mouth was trembling and you could see the anticipation in everyone's eyes. "Jack....I......" Mark began to say. "Yes...yes!" He said happily. Everybody in the diner applauded. I stood up and pulled Mark into a Passionate kiss. We laid our foreheads together smiling brightly at one another. "I love you so much." I said to Mark quietly. "I love you too Ireland." He replied. I just laughed as I grabbed the back of his head bringing him back to my lips. Thank you, whoever you are watching over me. Thank you.
