Chapter 2

Carl's POV

I wake up to Cassie crying,"Cassie? Are you ok? What's wrong?" I ask."No, I'm not ok." she says as she climbs down. I open up my arms as she embraces me. She cries in my shirt for what seems like forever, as I stroke her hair, repeating that it's ok."Did you have a bad dream?" I ask her. She nods,"Do you wanna talk about it?" I ask. She sighs,"Let's just say that it was a reply in my mind of how each member of my family died, right in front of me." she says, still continuing to sob,"Oh Cassie, I'm so sorry." I says softly,"Do you wanna sleep down here tonight?" she nods,"Please don't leave me. I don't want to be alone again." she sniffles. "I promise I will never leave you," I say. She rests her head on my shoulder as I kiss her forehead, I wrap my arms around her small body and soon fall asleep.

Cassie's POV

I awake from a kiss on the forehead from Carl. I'm still wrapped in his strong arms. He loosens his grip on me then says,"Mornin' Cassie." I smile comes across my face,"Mornin' Carl." He lets go of me, those strong arms, no longer around me. I walk downstairs with Carl as Carol and Beth are setting up breakfast, so I decide to help. I walk down and ask if they need any help,"There's one last box of granola bars in the kitchen we need. Would you mind getting it?" she asks. "Sure thing, Carol," I say as I walk to the kitchen. I grab the other box and on the way out I bump into Daryl. "Whoa! Sorry!" I say as I pick up the box I dropped. "It's alright, hey last night I heard you crying, we're you alright?" he says. "Uhh yeah I just woke up from a nightmare is all." I say nervously. "Well I went to check on you last night, and I saw you and Carl sleeping, but you were in his arms, so I figured everything was ok." he says.

Carl's POV

I sit down at the long metal table as Cassie brings out another box of granola bars. She looks a little unaware of where to sit, so I motion her to come sit by me. Smiling, she walks over to me and sits down. I take out two granola bars for me and two for Cassie. She takes them gratefully, and starts eating. God she's beautiful! I just want to hold her hand all the time, to kiss her cheek, to be able to hold her in my arms...

I'm interrupted by Daryl in my dream,"Hey Carl, ya already day dreamin' about Cassie?" he asks, as I hear a few laughs, and Carol gets up and slaps him on the arm,"Oh god! I'm hit I'm hit!" he yells. I look over at Cassie, she was blushing, and still is a little, but now she's just laughing. I love her laugh, it's so cute. She stands up and goes to the cell, she comes out with her rifle, something that Daryl must've given her, and announces she's going to the watch tower. A few minutes after she leaves I have a sudden urge to go with her,"I'm going with Cassie." I say. I hear a few oohs and I just ignore them. On the way back from our cell, Daryl says,"You just can't stay away from her can you? I don't blame you though, she's a nice one." he says. I nod and run outside, to the watch tower. When I walk up to the door, it's quite, I knock lightly on the door,"Cassie it's Carl." I say she opens the door, and I can tell she's been crying,"Cassie? What's wrong?" she points out a window,"Look, m-my moms out there.." she trails off. I look outside to see what used to be her mother. I try to calm her down, but it doesn't work. I know how hard it is to shoot your loved one, since I had to myself, I place her hands over her ears as she gives me a confused look, and after a few seconds, she realizes what I'm about to do. She closes her eyes, and I pull out my gun, I aim at what was her mother, and pull the trigger, the walker falls over dead. .
