Chapter 4

Cassie's POV

Carl tries calming me down, but it doesn't work. Rick hates me, Carl and I know he does. I just didn't know about the door. I finally stop crying, when Daryl comes in."Hey, Rick didn't mean anything by it." I don't look up, instead I bury my face in Carl's shirt. Daryl sighs and leaves after a few minutes. "What if I end up alone again?" I ask Carl. "I won't let that happen. I promise." he says. I turn to look at him and as soon as I do he leans in, and gently presses his lips to mine.

Carl's POV

As I kiss Cassie she tenses up, and soon relaxes. When we pull away, I want more, but, I'm afraid I'd just be considered perverted or something. But I don't have to think about it long before she gives me another quick kiss. I feel fireworks when we pull away.

I wake up when it's time for supper. Cassie is still sleeping, so I kiss her cheek to wake her. After a few seconds, her eyes flutter open, and she smiles. "Come on sleepyhead. It's time for supper." I say. I stand up, and I'm halfway to the door when I realize she's not standing. She gives me the famous puppy dog face and asks me to give her a piggyback ride. I kneel down, as she jumps on my back. I walk down the steps to the kitchen for supper.

Cassie's POV

I climb off Carl's back when we reach the kitchen. "Lovebirds." Daryl calls out. Laughter speeds across the room. I blush and turn around as Carl takes my hand. We both hear "oohs" as everyone stares at us. I hate it when people stare at me. I hide behind Carl, as I hear "Awes" in the room. We walk together to the table as Carol sits a bowl of soup in front of us as we sit down. I take small spoonfuls to my mouth, as I notice how quite it is. I look up just in time to see everyone look at us and then look down. Rick is near the wall on the far side of the room, staring at me. I quickly look down and continue eating. When we finish eating I help Beth and Carol with the bowls and take them back to the kitchen. I kneel down to a bucket with a rag, and start scrubbing the bowls, it's not easy without dish soap, but it'll do. Beth walks over to me and kneels down next to me. She starts drying the bowls, when she says,"You know you wouldn't be here right now of it wasn't for Carl." I look at her confused,"What do you mean?" I ask. "Well Rick was gonna kick you out but Carl stood up and said 'if she goes I go with her'." she smiles at me,"Here why don't you go to him now, I'll finish up here." I nod and on the way out I say," Thanks Beth." I walk out to the main room, as Carl runs up to me.
