Chapter Two:

The Hospital

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

What the hell is that?

That is not the sound of my alarm clock.

I groan, though only a squeak escapes my lips.

My eyes feel like they were cemented together.

I try opening them, but fail.

I try moving, but once again, fail.

So, I do the only thing I knew that I can do.

I take in my surroundings, on what I can hear and feel anyway.

I lie in a bed, which is hard, a thin sheet covering me.

The room is very cold.

I hear two people breathing next to my bed.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Damn beeping noise.

It's bugging the shit out of me.

Then, my eyes snapped open.

I stared at the top of the ceiling, instantly knowing I wasn't in my room.

At home, my ceiling is painted red.

This ceiling is...is white.

A very, very ugly, plain white.

Then it clicks.

I'm in a hospital.

I look around, craning my neck.

The bones in my neck pop.

I guess I haven't moved around much.

I look to my side, seeing my parents cuddled up on two chairs.

I see their cheeks are stained with dried tears, my heart clenching at the sight.

I swallow, though, even that little movement hurt.

I see I'm hooked up to machines and wires.

I struggle to stay awake, hoping someone will come in, or my parents would wake.

Neither happens.

What happened?

How did I end up here?

I feel most of my pain coming from my hands and wrists.

That's when the glorious darkness overtakes me, once again.

----------

I wake up again, the damn beeping noise still in my ear.

They really need to move that away from me.

I groan, catching the attention of whoever is in the room.

Hopefully, this time, someone is in here, or my parents are awake.

I strain to open my eyes and when I do I'm nearly blinded by white light.

Suddenly, the light turns off, my eyes practically sigh with relief.

"Elizabeth?" my Mother's worry filled face appears in my line of sight.

I scowl at her, she frowns, disappearing.
