Harry
It's been four days since I first met Dolly at the subway. That was such a bad day for me.Precisely a year ago, my father scheduled yet again another blind date with the daughter of one of our company's conglomerates. Back then, he persuaded me to agree to the arranged marriage with the thought that he'll let me live my life after doing so. But damn I was mistaken.
This year, I went home with the thought that my father wants me back. As soon as I arrived on the foyer of our house, I found out why I, the prodigal son, was told to return home.
"Of course." I gave way to bitter laugh. "I can't believe this! Why did I ever think you'd want me back just because?"
"It's your anniversary." He berates and I did not flinch even when he yells at me. I'm used to it.
"Look. I'm doing fine by myself. Sooner or later, I'll be able to stand on my own two feet... So how about we talk about my allowance?"
He sighs, closing his eyes. "This is not a game! You agreed to a contract and there's no turning back."
"Watch me." I say with a challenging tone.
"Do you think you'll make it out alive? The world is cruel. You will need power to rule over. But without power, you'll be nothing."
"What?" I can't believe this. My father thinks my life depends on that woman who I barely even knew? That's absurd!
"Are you hearing this, Victoria?" I turn to my fiancée and her mother who both seem to have no care in the world. "He's objectifying you and you're okay with that?"
She glares at me and just rolls her eyes.
"Do you think I'll let you play around with those bunch of fools? It's all a joke!" He scoffs. "You won't make it out alive by just doing ridiculous stunts when you don't even have the talent."
"That's what you think of me?"
It hurt me. His words wound its way deep within me and I hope it won't ever heal.
I'll show him.
I ran away that night without any intention of ever coming back. "I'll make you eat your words, father."
Seeing as it will only be an obvious option that I might stay with them, I didn't contact any of my band mates or any hotel. My father knows me too much but not because he cares for me as much.
He had me followed by an agent who I caught during an interview. I threw the retard out and told the man to never come back. Even after showing them that I'm capable of protecting myself, I still need to be cautious. My father can easily pull any string if he wants to.
I stayed in the subway for hours, weighing my options whether I should return to the city or not. I loosen my scarf as it felt thick then I realise I was still wearing the one that that girl gave me.
That girl.
Curiosity got me fishing out my phone from my pocket. I searched her details on the internet, and like what she bragged about, her interview really does have the most number of views amongst other ECS applicants. That's when my brain conjured an idea.
It's not a coincidence that I met her. She could be my temporary escape.
It's funny how I ended up in the most unexpected place I'll be. But I can say I don't regret it at all, especially when I think I've taken an interest in Dolly.
I thought perhaps she will remember me. I keep on giving hints but she still can't get any. We talked in that train for at least twenty minutes, there's no way in hell she won't remember a thing!
