When we arrived at the forest I could see the frightened look on Logan's face. Luckily there was no police on guard at that moment, probably on their small break they frequently got since they knew no one dared to go in the woods.
"Les-" Logan started.
But I didn't let him finish, he seemed stunted for a moment so I grabbed his hand and started climbing the fence. Climbing the fence for me wasn't so much of a problem, but with every step, Logan become more slower and frightened.
Once I jumped down from the fence I saw Logan still attempting to jump down.
"C'mon Logan! It's not that high," I reassured him.
He looked down a couple times then closed his eyes and fell towards the ground. While jumping down his knee then consisted of a couple scrapes and scratches. We started walking inside first, it seemed like a normal forest but I could see Logan was shaking inside.
"Is someone scared?" I teased.
"No, I'm just cold," he hit back.
'Of course' I thought. We walked forwards going over fallen tree branches and crunching through leaves.
Once we reached the heart of the forest Logan stopped.
"Leslie please can we go back? I don't wanna go any further," he seemed petrified.
"Logan we haven't even seen anything and you look like you've just met a ghost," I pointed out.
"Leslie please," he begged.
For a split second I felt sorry for him, but then again, what was he even scared of? Nothing wrong had happened yet. And I wasn't planning to give up.
But I still had to respect his wishes, "fine lets just go."
Just as we were about to turn back we both heard rustling noises coming from behind.
Logan literally jumped and his breathing became fast. My mind was racing and I smirked, this is what I was waiting for. But then again, I realized that maybe I didn't want to meet whatever had made that noise, I wasn't prepared at all.
I slowly turned around and had a déjà vu moment. When I turned around there was yet another zombie except this time it was a completely pale boy who looked about 11. He had pitch black hair and looked dull.
"Should we be scared?" I asked Logan nervously.
"Nah, there's nothing there. Lets just leave," he didn't even seem scared!
My mouth was hanging open, there was some unusual creature in front of us and Logan acted as if he was related to it. The zombie seemed expressionless but in just a few seconds it caught on that we were there. His eyes sharply pointed at us and he looked restless, soon he started charging for us!
Logan on the other hand started walking towards the creature. Maybe he had some plan I thought. But he seemed a little too calm.
"Logan do you have a plan cause your walking into him!" I shouted with fear.
He looked curiously at me, and kept walking until the zombie clasped him using both hands. He didn't realize until blood started oozing out of his arm. The zombie shoved him onto the ground and instead grasped his neck making him choke. I stared at them in shock and horror. Logan on the other hand was dumbfounded and about to pass out. Then the zombie looked at me and sneered like a snake would. I shrieked and started running as fast as I could just to get away from it, forgetting about Logan.
As soon as I got near the fence tears spring out of my eyes. I felt guilty, hopeless, and had a mix of emotions. I felt terrible for bringing Logan here, but I knew right now I had to get out before the police spotted me. I swiftly climbed the fence and ran for home.
Once I got home I ran inside and jumped onto bed with tears streaming my eyes. My mom was going to question me but stayed quiet once she saw I was curled up into a ball like a scared kitten. I felt like I had just committed unintentional murder. I knew I couldn't hide this as a secret forever, I had brought Logan into this mess and I knew I had to do something about it. I wiped the tears out of my face and decided I would come back on Halloween evening.
