The end

That night Andy ended up texting me all night like old times. I knew I shouldn’t be talking to him that much but I couldn’t help it. Plus I needed to know how it went with Grace.

He said he was so happy he got to see her again and glad he went inside. She told them she was sorry and that she was going to move closer so she can see them more. They were pretty lucky that Grace is bringing herself together. He said he’ll thank me forever for showing her that she can keep going in life.

Andy even asked me about Shane and I answered the question not as him being the guy I loved but my best friend. I told him that things were alright but a bit awkward. I also mentioned I thought he might break up with me. Andy said he couldn’t imagine why he’d do that but Andy didn’t know it had to do with him.

I mentioned to him that I was stopping by his house to find out what Shane had to say and Andy asked if I’d stop by his room to let him know what happened. I only told him maybe, because talking to Andy in person is much different through the phone. I was already pushing my limits.

On my way to the door my stomach was filled with butterflies. I didn’t know what to expect. Shane lead me to his room shutting the door behind him without a word.

“Sit down.” He said motioning me to sit on his bed next to him.

“Umm... alright what’s going on?”

“I think you know.”

“It’s because of Andy isn’t it?” I whispered.

“I saw the way you guys looked at each other. I knew I lost.”

“But Shane…”

“I know what you’re thinking. That nothing will ever happen between the two of you because he doesn’t feel the same, but I think you’re wrong. If you never find out if I’m right you’ll always think ‘what if’”

“But Shane… I do love you to.”

“Just not the way you love Andy and I can accept that now. I do wish you were meant for me, but you’re not. Don’t make this harder on me. I just can’t stop what’s meant to be. And you did warn me before.” He said looking down at his eyes sad.

I brushed my hand against the side of his face. He closed his eyes and sighed.

“Can we still be friends? I’ll miss you too much if not.” I said my eyes stinging a little.

He opened his eyes to look into mine.

“Of course.” He said smiling and I smiled at him.

 I wasn’t as upset as I thought I’d be. Maybe this was the right way to go anyway.

“I need you to go talk to Andy.” He said looking stern.

“But we just broke up Shane…”

“I don’t care. I broke up with you so you can be with him not so you can be too scared to.”

“But…”

“I’ll be okay. Don’t worry about me alright?” he said and I nodded bending down to kiss his cheek.

“Don’t forget that you do mean something to me Shane. I hope you meet a girl soon that can give you all your asking for.” With that I left his room to make my way to Andy’s.

Without even knocking I busted through the door to see him watching TV. He jumped up when he saw me. He was about to say something but I stopped him needing to say what I’ve been wanting to say for a very long time. If I didn’t say it now, I’ll never say it.

“I’m in love with you Andy. I can’t stop what I’m feeling for you. Shane broke up with me because he thinks you feel the same about me. Everyone says you do but I never could really believe it. That a guy like you would go for a girl like me. I don’t want you to say you love me back and not mean it the way I do. I don’t want you to feel bad for me. I don’t want you to be confused about the way you feel about me. I just want you to-”

He took two quick steps to me grabbing my face pressing my lips roughly to his. After a few seconds he pulled away.

“I’m yours my love.” He whispered.

“You mean it?”

“I’ve been afraid to tell you myself. I didn’t want to lose you, but I indeed up losing you anyway. I can’t handle being away from you. I’ll be yours if you’ll be mine?” he said looking deep into my eyes.

“I’m yours as long as you want me” I said pulling his face to give him another sweet kiss.
