I sat in the courtroom, holding Dylan's hand. It had been about six hours since I had testified, making it a total of nine hours in the courtroom, including the half an hour recess we had. The judge was about to make her decision, that could make or brake the rest of my life. I was shaking, and crying. Dylan was trying to calm me down, and my family sat behind me, all of them, each of them sitting on the edge of their chairs hoping for the best. Justin sat next to Dylan and I, he had also testified, and I think that really loosened up the minds of the jury. If only one person on that jury thought I was innocent, I was of the hook until our next meeting in court, but it would be better if all of them thought I was innocent, because I was.
Then the judge started to speak. And the words that came out of her mouth changed my life forever, I would never have a normal life again.
Emma Foster, guilty of attempt of murder.
Me, I was going to jail.
The straight A student, that had her whole life ahead of her.
I couldn't believe it. I burst into tears right then and there. For the whole world to see. I looked at my whole family everyone was crying Dylan was crying. Justin was crying, I barley even knew him and he was crying.
Two police officers handcuffed me, and took me away from the rest of my life. I thought I was going to be a successful woman, I wanted to be a nephrologist. I was a hardworking woman, and then this happens to me.
I took one last look at my family. I took a picture of them in my mind, something that I would save forever.
The two guards that escorted me put me in a cell, and left me there. I was going to rot in a prison, and never live the life of a normal human.
I laid on the uncomfortable bed, and drifted off to sleep with tears in my eyes, and a broken heart.
Then slept, and slept, and slept. A police officer came into the cell in the middle of the night, and forced me to change. I was waring an orange jumpsuit. I fell back asleep.
The next morning I woke up. People in the other cells were looking at me. Asking me questions, I just ignored them.
A young man came into my cell. He was about five foot ten. A slim figure, he was dressed in a nice suit. He smiled at me, and I smiled back. I wondered what he was doing here.
Soon my question was answered. He was here to ask me what programs I wanted to enroll in. Or if I had any request as to any activities I wanted to do. I asked him if there were any musical activities, and he gave me a list. Soon he left, and I was now enrolled in three musical programs. I also asked if I could get a guitar, and he said he would ask around.
At about two o'clock it was our recess, and people could do what the wanted to do outside. So I decided I would work out a bit, since I hadn't done so in a while.
I ran for the whole hour they gave me, I ran, and ran, and ran. It was a bit of a stress reliever, and then when I got back inside it all sunk in. This is what my life would be like forever. This is what I would be living for the rest of my life.
Again I went to sleep, and woke up to someone opening up the cell, I now had a room mate. I said 'hi' to her to be polite, but she didn't respond.
A few hours later we were all called for dinner. We walked in a line and were all handcuffed. A woman behind me started to talk, I didn't respond pretending not to hear her, but she wouldn't budge.
Suddenly she hits me. And I turn around and politely ask her to stop. But as I'm turning back she throws a punch at me face, and my nose and mouth are bleeding. Then the person in front of me starts to kick me to the floor, and a bunch of people are now beating me up. All I could think about was my family, and how this could've happened to me.
