I ran to the beachfront swiftly. I ran to the beachfront, looking around. Everyone was almost out of the water.
"JAKE!! JACOB!!!" I turned. A pregnant woman was saving her arms. I looked back at the water and sure enough two twin boys were laughing and splashing each other, not caring about anything else. I saw a shark fin cut through the water and smoothly make its way toward the two boys.
I looked around for lifeguards, but all were too far. I gulped down the terror in my gut and was about to splash in when someone else jumped in. It was Brian!!
"BRIAN!!!" I heard Lindal scream. She jumped in herself.
"Lindal!!" I yelled. I tried to grab her out she was already diving in. I was about to dive in when someone pulled my arm. I turned. It was Alex. "Alex! I need to go after her!"
"We don't need anybody else getting hurt!" He said. "Brian's a good swimmer, don't worry."
"I'm not worried about him! I'm worried about Lindal!" I cried. "Brian is already busy with those two twins! He can't take care of Lindal too!!"
"CALM DOWN!!!!" He yelled. He yelled it so loud that it made me jerk back. His voice became more gentle. "Sorry. It's gonna be alright, ok? Just stay calm. Freaking out is gonna do nothing."
He sounded like a father. It was awkward. He put an arm around my shoulders. I watched as Brian and Lindal reached the two twins. I looked back at the shark fin. It was just a few feet away!! Brian grabbed one boy as Lindal grabbed the other. The shark fin was getting closer. My heart thumped rapidly. I could feel my legs getting ready to dive in.
Brian began to swim to the shore, dragging the boy. The boy was fighting him. Brian, of course, just kept on dragging him through. Lindal was not having a good time. This twin seemed to be more aggressive. This one kicked and thrashed.
"That's it, I'm going," I said.
"Wait!!" Alex called, but I already dived in. I swam quickly to her, breaking to the surface occasionally. The waves weren't helping, good thing that these were small waves. I reached them.
The boy was splashing water in my face. "Stop it!!" I snapped. He ignored me. "STOP IT!!!!" He finally stopped. I looked back at the shark fin and yelped. It was one foot away. "GO!" I screamed. "GO! GO! GO!!!!!!!" Lindal and me grabbed the boy and dragged him through the water, toward the shore.
The shark, seemed to know us rushing to get away, was swimming faster. My heart thumped quicker. I kicked harder. We were almost there. C'mon. Then a thousand pointy things snapped onto my leg. A biting pain came quick. I screamed and my head went under. The sandy water stung my eyes. I could feel blood flowing out. I kicked the shark's nose and it jerked off. I splashed to the surface. The water stung my leg. Lindal and the boy was still there. I was having as hard time keeping to the surface, since I could only kick with one foot.
"Go!!" I gasped. I immediately went under again. I heard a gunshot. The bang left a ringing in my ears. I could feel myself sink to the sandy floor of the ocean.
I closed my eyes and then there was nothing.
I opened my eyes. I was in a white, comfortable bed with blinding lights tapering over my on the ceiling. Someone had changed me into blue shirt and pants. My foot was tightly wrapped up in a cast. I turned my head. There sat Alex, with his head in his hands. He had changed, his hair was sill damp. I never liked being in the hospital. It made me feel weak and small, I also didn't like being in the center of attention.
"A...Alex," I called quietly. He perked up and saw me.
"Aveline!!" He yelled. Lindal and Brian came rushing in, slamming the doors opened as he jumped beside me. "A lifeguard had a gun and pulled the trigger. The gunshot sound scared the shark away. Are you ok?"
"You ask me that every second," I answered, smiling. "I'm fine." I sat up and tried to get out of the bed. Then nurses and doctors rushed in. They gently pushed my back down as I looked at them blankly.
They began chattering and talking, writing on clipboards. I looked at my friends with a questioned look. They all shrugged. I sighed and rolled my eyes. After a few minutes of more chatterin and the docter talking to me about not leaning on my leg, blah, blah, blah. The only part I listened to was that I didn't really need the crutches, but it'll be painful if I put weight on it.
Then they let me go with some crutches. Holding it brought memories of me playing with Ethan's crutches when he broke his foot. We went out of the hospital, that's when the yelling started.
"Why in the world did you go in?!!!" Alex yelled. "I told you not to go in and you still went!!" I just rolled my eyes and kept moving. "This is why you should've listened to me!!!"
"And let Lindal get hurt?" I asked calmly. "Who would you rather get hurt? Me or Lindal?" I knew I was giving him and impossible choice, I did it on purpose. "Hey, Brian, why don't you help him out?"
"Uh..." Brian mumbled. He gave me a weak smile. I smiled back. I turned back to Alex, who was standing there, trying to find a right answer.
Then I laughed, shaking my head. "You guys are so funny!!"
"You are so weird," Brian said, turning on his car. "I was thinking that after you get out of the hospital you'd be quiet and nice, but no. You just start laughing your head off."
"You just noticed I'm weird?" I asked. I hit the bottom of my crutch onto his leg lightly. He scowled at me.
I threw the crutches into the car and carefully stepped in. Alex climbed in after me. Lindal and Brian sat in front. The car started and we started driving.
Alex put his arm around me. Seems like someone wants to forget about what happened a few seconds ago. "I wanna show you something," he said. His voice was quiet.
"What is it?" I asked. "Your dick?"
The corners of his mouth tugged up slightly. "I could if you want me to..."
"No thank you. I'm like where your underwear is right now."
"Really? Because my underwear isn't on right now. Just my swim pants." I raised an eyebrow. "Just kidding!! I have an underwear on."
I rolled my eyes. "What is it? What you're showing me?"
"It's gonna be nice. It could be our first date."
"First date? You're being lazy. Again."
"I'm always lazy."
"I've noticed a long time ago."
