Luna Black always loved to read. She would spend all her time in the library and if she could have helped it, she would have lived there. Life on the Ark was hard, but Luna felt she got the short end of the deal. Sure she had a pretty nice home with a mom and a dad but every time she went home, hell broke loose. "Amelia! Where's the dinner!" Luna's father came barging in the home. Luna looked up from her book and frowned. She knew what was coming next, so she tried to get up and help her mother. "No, no, no, you will sit and let your worthless mother do the dinner." Her father basically spat at her. "She's almost done, she just needs some he-" Luna's face stung and she fell to the floor from the impact of her father's fist. She looked up at him with fear in her eyes, she knew she had done it. "You don't talk back to me! I am your father!" He said as he started to lay hit after hit on her. Luna tried to shield herself but it was hard. He kept kicking her and punching her. She could feel the bruises and cuts. "Richard! Stop it! She didn't do anything!" Finally her mother came in yelling with a knife. Richard turned to face her with an evil glint in his eyes. "You are worthless to me! I'll kill you!" He lunged at her mother and they fought. Luna crawled to the corner and was trying to not cry. She finally hit the button to call the guard and screamed when her father got the upper hand and stabbed her mother. "Momma!!!" Luna screamed as her mother drew in her last breathe. Her father looked at her next and Luna knew she was fixing to die. Just then the guard showed up. "Hands up, get your hands where I can see them!" The man said to her father. A younger guard came over to Luna, "hey, you're gonna be okay, it's over." Luna looked at the boy. His jacket said Blake and he was worried. Luna was going to say something but she started to faint and the boy grabbed her when she fell over into a dreamless sleep.
