Kenny

"Did you read my letter"? "Letter...what letter"? Toni asked confused. "The letter I put in Adrian's suitcase baby". "No I didn't see a letter in there, Adrian might have it". Toni said staring at the stars.

"Or your stupid ass father". I mumbled chuckling. "I heard you"! Toni said hitting my hand. "What I'm just stating the obvious. You know your father hates my guts. I bet you he has the letter". "Really Ken you think my father is that much of a low life! Okay I bet you he doesn't have it"! Toni yelled.

"Okay if I win you cook dinner for a year". "Deal and if I win you get the kids up and ready for school by yourself for a year". Toni said holding her hand out. I grabbed Toni's hand and pulled her into a hug. "Deal". I say say pecking her lips.

Toni pulled away and headed back to the truck.

"Where are you going"? "We are leaving and heading to my parents house". Toni explained. "Right now everybody is sleep". "Seems like a perfect time to do a little snooping to me". Toni rubbed her hands together making a devilish grin.

Toni

"Baby when I win I want real meals cooked. I don't want no damn salads. I want steaks and shit like that Tone". Kenny chuckled while rubbing my thigh. "Well you better have my babies up, ready and on time for school".

The ride back to my parents house took no time. However, Kenny wanted to be childish and grab my keys and run around outside.

"Stop playing"! I semi yelled. "Stop playing"! Kenny mocked me. "You're so immature"! "You're so immature"! Kenny poked his lip out like me. "Sometimes I wonder why I even bother". I stormed off. "Sometimes you wonder why you bother with what"? Kenny jumped on my back.

"Ken you're too big"! "That means two things". Kenny said smirking. I slowly fell to my knees laughing. Kenny turned me around and we started making out on the front lawn.

I pushed Kenny off of me while grabbing my keys. Kenny ran after me to the kitchen door.

"Shhh Kenny don't make any noise". "I won't just open the door short stuff". Kenny replied poking me.

We walked through the living room and through the house. Finally making it to my dads office. I turned around and Kenny was gone.

"I know damn well". I whispered. "Baby don't be cursing in the preachers house". Kenny said coming around the corner. "Baby stay close". "I was but I saw a picture of you when you were little I had to stop and admire you". Kenny said smiling.

We went in the office and searched quietly. "Pshhh". Kenny opened a can soda. "Ken do you not know what quiet means"? "Hmm Mmm". Kenny said slurping the soda. "Unbelievable".

We searched all around and found nothing. "Baby this is a lost cause". Toni said drinking my soda. "You know what I always wanted to do". I attacked Toni with kisses pushing her on her fathers desk, knocking over a globe.

Things started to get serious but Toni stopped everything. We looked down and all over the floor there were receipts and other documents.

"Your dad loves to shop"? "All these places are out of town Ken. The expenses are way too much for one person". Toni explained looking worried. "Well maybe he took someone from the church with him".

"All these receipts are for purchases for a woman Ken"? Toni softly said. "Well maybe he brought your mom some things". I rubbed Toni's back. "Nah, I've never seen mom with any of this stuff on these receipts". Toni looked off.

"I guess I'll be cooking dinner for a year". Toni said with a cracky voice". Toni had the letter in her hands with tears rolling down her cheeks. "No baby you don't have to do that".

The room became quiet soon Toni and I drifted off to sleep.

Tamar

"Y'all wake up and go fix breakfast because she is hungry"! "Tamar if you don't shut up". Trina said laughing and throwing a pillow at me. "Whatever. And where is Toni". "I don't know Tamar. Go look for in the kitchen and while you're at it fry some bacon and scramble up some eggs". Traci mumbled rolling over. "You tried it honey"!

"Toni, Toni where are you"? I walked through the house singing. "Little girl if you don't hush early in the morning with all of that"! Mommy yelled at me.

"Dang I'm sorry I was just looking for Toni". "Toni's not in her room"? Momma asked concerned. "No Evelyn if she was in there I wouldn't be out her looking for her". I put my hands on my hips. "

Mommy turned around and I attempted to grab a biscuit.

"Little girl don't play with me early this morning. Go tell your sisters breakfast will be ready soon". Mommy said with her back to me.

I was walking past daddy's office and heard a lot of commotion. I quickly opened the door seeing Toni trying to wake up Kenny.

"Oohhh". Toni jumps and quickly turns around. "Shh Tamar before you wake up everybody". Toni whispered. "They already awake". I said rolling my eyes. "What were you guys doing to in here anyway"? "Nothing just talking". Toni said still trying to wake Kenny up. "Girl he doesn't look so good". I zoomed in on Kenny examining him. "Monster please go call 911"! Toni yelled. I ran into the kitchen and quickly dialed 911.

They quickly arrived and we all watched as they wheeled Kenny out with Toni in tears. I've never seen Toni all shook up like this. The ambulance rolled off and we hurried back into the house to get dressed to head to the hospital.

Mr. Braxton

"What was all that commotion"? "Kenny had to be taken to the hospital". Towanda sadly said. "Oh. What's for breakfast". "Michael did you just hear what Towanda said. Your oldest child and daughter is crying her eyes on the way to the hospital and you don't care"? Evelyn questioned me angrily. "I never said I didn't care about Toni but I could care less about her boy toy". "Like it or not Kenny is her husband and the father of your grandchildren. He treats them right unlike somebody I know". Evelyn walked out the kitchen rolling her eyes.

"I'm so tired of her....sometimes I wish I could pack my things and just go". I shook my head in disgust.
