What Do You Mean Part II

The room got quiet as everyone took in the bombshell. The silence grew for 15 minutes before Kenny started asking questions.

Kenny began to cry in his hands as the words pierced his ears. 20 minutes later Kenny was still sobbing uncontrollably. Vince walked with Kenny to the restroom so he could get himself together but he couldn't.

Kenny splashed water on his face and stared at his reflection in the mirror.

"I should had talked to him instead of whooping him so much. I should had been spending time with him but no I was out getting my own self into stupid situations"! Kenny yelled.

"Calm down its not your fault. He's going to be okay. Vince patted Kenny on the shoulder.

"Vince I can't loose them". Kenny sighed. "And you won't". Vince said.

Kenny and Vince walked back into the waiting room to see the doctor talking to the sisters.

"Kenny, Toni is awake she wants to see you". Towanda softly said. Kenny nodded his head and followed the doctor.

Kenny slowly walked into the room closing the door behind him. The expression on Toni's face was unreadable. He didn't know if the doctor had given her good or bad news. And he definitely didn't know if she knew about Adrian.

"Baby". Kenny called softly walking to Toni's bedside. "Hold me". Toni said staring at the wall. Kenny got in the bed and wrapped his arm around Toni.

"Tighter". Toni mumbled. Kenny tightened his grip as Toni placed his other hand on her stomach. Kenny looked down with tears in his eyes and Toni looked up.

"This is the most bittersweet moment I've ever had". Toni sighed. A tear rolled down Kenny's cheek and Toni wiped it away.

"Your sisters and Vince are here". Kenny mumbled into Toni's ear. "Good. How is Adrian doing"? Toni asked. "Baby he's still in surgery". Kenny rubbed Toni stomach.

"That was the worst thing I could had ever heard about Adrian". Toni cried. 2 monitors started beeping and the doctors came rushing in. "Mrs. Edmonds you must stay calm if you want to keep this child". The doctor calmly stated.

The doctors left the room and Kenny was shocked. "I'm sorry Toni I know it's my fault you've been so stressed". Kenny softly said. "Baby it's okay, you were looking out for your family and I over exaggerated". Toni stated snuggling more into Kenny.

"Baby do you want the rest of the family to come and see you". Kenny got up. "Sure bring them in but let's not tell them about the baby". Toni gave a weak smile.

Kenny went and got the family making sure to tell them not to talk about Adrian. The family left the hospital 2 hours later leaving Kenny and Toni alone.

Kenny

"Mr. Edmonds can I speak with your for a moment in the hallway. The doctor looked through his clipboard then looked up at me. Sir your son is stable now but he lost a lot of blood so we gave him a blood transfusion. He also needs a kidney transplant." The doctor spoke.

"So what do we do to help him"? "Well we need to run a couple test to see if you're in good health". The doctor explained.

"Okay. But I'm not his biological father is that going to be a problem"? "No problem at all sir. I'll be back in a couple of minutes with some material for you to read". The doctor walked away.

"Damn too much is going on right now. Adrian needs a kidney, Toni has a high risk pregnancy and I have to undergo surgery".

I walk back into Toni's room and looked right in her eyes.

"What's wrong Ken"? She asked sitting up. "Nothing that I can't handle now rest baby". I kissed her forehead. "Ken I don't think I'll be able to carry the baby full term". Toni sighed.

"Look baby I need you to be that short, feisty, spunky, brave, beautiful woman that I fell in love with. You've been through worse Tone you can get past this".

3 DAYS LATER

The hospital discharged Toni and I passed the health test. I still haven't told her about the kidney situation. I lied to her and told her I was going to Australia to get somethings together for us. The sisters are going to look after her while I recover from the surgery.

"Dad I'm scared. I've never had surgery before". Adrian sadly said. "I know but you'll be okay I promise".

The nurses and doctors flooded the room putting us under anesthesia. I was looking up into the light and before I knew it everything went black.

Toni

I slowly open my eyes and stare at the ceiling. I feel like shit right now. Adrian is in the hospital recovering from his blood transfusion and Kenny went to Australia. Hopefully when he comes back everything will be set so we can move there.

"Toni THE Braxton girl if you don't get out of that pity party and come eat"! Tamar yelled through the house. "I'm not hungry"! "Mommy dropped off some biscuits"! Trina yelled stuffing one in her mouth.

The house got quiet and everyone looked around waiting for Toni to come running into the kitchen but she never came.

"Girl she has it bad right now hopefully Kenny and Adrian will get out the hospital soon". Tamar said.

"Shhh before she hears yo-". Trina trailed off. Toni came around the corner with a weak smile and tears in her eyes. Trina, Traci and Tamar quickly tried to change the subject but it was too late.

"What do you mean when they get out"? "Toni, Kenny was just looking out for you". Towanda explained walking towards me.

"No stop don't come near me. I'm a grown woman and I'm tired of always being the last to know about my business"!

I stormed off going into my bedroom. I cried myself to sleep. I woke up to text messages coming through my phone from Ken. At this moment I'm really tired of people.

"I love you too". I texted back as I buried my head into Kenny's pillow.
