Marlana and I were walking in the Asylum Courtyard. It was surrounded by the red brick walls, glassy windows and doors, and occasionaly an air conditioner. There were several oak and madrone trees. there were several rose bushes and flowers lining a cobblestone path thay wound through the miniature forest. A hummingbird zoomed by us.

A few cuts on my stomach and arms began to itch.

"Um...Marlana?" I whispered.

She looked at me and frowned.

"What?"

"You saw my cuts."

She grabbed my shoulders and turned me to face her.

"Yes." She said. "And I also dressed them and stuff. I didn't bandage them cos I didn't want you to notice..."

I hugged her.

"Thanks Marlana." I whimpered, my voice catching as we released and kept walking.

She nodded. As we went back to our dorm, we started on a Doctor Who marathon.

Four episodes in I was feeling extremely homesick. Watching Rose and Nine really reminded me of my mom and dad, looks-wise. The shadows of my past, the teasing, the hours of torture, overwhelmed me.

"I'm going to the bathroom," I said, "Be right back."

I stepped in and looked through one of the bags my mom had sent with me here. I found my box of tic-tacs at the bottom and sighed in relief when I saw that the pencil sharpener blade was still taped to the bottom. I removed it quickly and carressed it lightly.

I flushed the toilet and ran water. I pulled up my Three Days Grace T-shirt I cut a few fresh slices on my stomach. I washed them with a cloth and pulled my shirt over them. I turned off the water and heard that the show had stopped playing.

I cleaned up quickly and hid the blade in my pants pocket. I smiled lightly and exited. Marlana was standing by the door with a sad look on her face.

"Shoulders." she said.

Shit. She knew.

I rolled up my sleeves. Nothing.

"Stomach."

I shook my head. She pulled up my shirt and sighed sadly, her voice cracking.

"I'm sorry... do you wanna talk about what's bothering you?"

I shook my head.

I'd never ever let anyone in again.

Ever.

And I ran out the door and to Matt and David's room.

Sometimes the TV wasn't enough.

Sometimes you need the Doctor...

That is, until some random worker stops you in the hall, pulls you into an empty room.

Then, you need help.
