Lucy's POV

3 Years Later

The sunlight streamed through my window hitting right across my eyes waking me up. I sat up in bed and reached over to the exceed who was peacefully sleeping, shaking him a bit I called "Happy it's time to get up"

The exceed sat up yawning, rubbing his eyes "Lucy is there any fish left?" He asked

"Yea there is I'll go grab you some" I rubbed the top of his head. I threw off my blanket standing up making my way to the kitchen. I grabbed the fish for Happy putting it on a plate and setting it on the table. "Happy" I called "The fish is on the table" 

"Okay" Happy jumped up on to the table. Grabbing the fish he sat down with a soft 'plop' I chuckled at him as he stuck the whole fish head into his mouth.

"Happy, I'm going to go take a bath I'll be back in a bit" Still engrossed in his breakfast Happy simply nodded. I smiled gently ruffling the top of his head, I then walked into the bathroom.

I slipped into the bath and sighed my thoughts wandered back to that day three years ago. No one has seen Natsu since then, we had heard reports of mysterious fires starting and sightings of salamander, but despite our best efforts we couldn't find him. My mind drifted to the exceed happily munching on a fish in my kitchen. I remember the day it was decided that he would live with me.

"What do you mean Mira?"

"He hasn't come down in two weeks Lucy" Mira said shaking her head "Natsu was like his father, he was the one who raised him and now he's gone"

My heart went out to the little guy, I knew how he felt. "I'll go check on him Mira"

Mira smiled widely at me "Thank you Lucy that be just wonderful" I was mesmerized I couldn't remember the last time Mira or anyone in the guild smiled like that since Natsu disappeared a few weeks ago. I smiled at Mira and then walked up the stairs to the roof. As I got closer I could hear light sobs, sighing I knew they were from Happy. Once I reached the roof I saw him balled up clutching something like his life depended on it.

"Happy" I called gently

Happy sniffled, looking up at me with his big eyes "Lucy" he whispered, he looked quickly down at the thing in his paws before quickly standing up and forming his wings for a get away.

"Happy!" I yelled reaching to grab him before he flew off. Catching him by the tail I pulled him back to me. I embraced him "Happy, I'm sorry"

Happy nodded, then slowly he removed the item he was clutching handing it to me. The familiar scaly pattern graced my vision once again, I gasped grabbing it burying my nose into it inhaling his scent. My eyes met Happy's "How did you get this?"

"He gave it to me" Happy said  and just like that the exceed started to cry uncontrollably "L-Luce, he'll come back right?"

I smiled gently at Happy wiping his tears "Yes he'll come back" Happy looks at me like I was his only hope in the world "Live with me" I blurted out "Come live with me and we'll wait together" Happy nodded.

While I was thinking about that an hour had gone by and my bath had gotten cold. Sighing I stepped out of the tub. Walking quickly into my room I slipped on some black shorts and a white tank top with some sandals. Quickly I ran a brush through my hair, giving myself a once over in the mirror my hand subconsciously reaching for my neck. Dropping my hand I opened the small chest place on my desk, it was empty, closing it ad opening it again it was still empty. My eyes widened as I realized it was missing. "Happy!" I called slightly panicked 

Happy padded into the room "Yea Lucy"

I looked at him frantically "It's missing" Happy's eyes widened 

Shaking his head he flew on to my desk "No, no it's not it " Happy was near tears and so was I, we couldn't have lost it. It way to important to lose. Happy and I started to thoroughly search the apartment. "Lucy" Happy called his voice shaking slightly "You should come see this"

I looked in Happy's direction to see him by the window. It was open, the wind gently moving the curtains 'I don't remember opening the window' . Confused I walked over to the window, catching a glimpse of what was on the ledge I gasped.

There was a scorch mark on the ledge.

It was in the shape of a dragon head.

He had finally came back.
