Eight years later, in 1934, Annette was now Fifteen, and Logan Sixteen.
{Annette POV}
It was quite sunny, for usual fall whether. Also a bit warm, compared to the usual chilly autumn whether. I was lying in my bed. I thought I was the only one awake, given I heard no one walking around the home.
'Annette,' I thought to myself, 'you have until Logan awakens to yourself. What are you going to do with it?'
"ANNETTE! ANNETTE! ANNETTE!" I heard Logan yell from the outside of my bedroom door.
'I take that back...' I thought. I sighed deeply and stood, wrapping the hand made robe Mum made me around my night gown. "What?! What?! What?!" I replied sleepily to Logan as I opened the door.
"Annette! Do you see out the window?!" He said pointing out my small window, as he walked past me.
"Yes. Yes I did, Logan. Why?"
"It's BEAUTIFUL! We have to go out in it! Why aren't you dressed?!"
"I just woke up, Logan. I was just thinking when you knocked."
"Well come on! Let's go! Mum isn't home, she had to leave early. She said 'There's work in the city, Logan. That's why I'm going.' She also said she won't be home till sundown, and we have to fix supper ourselves today. So come on! Get dressed and let's go out in it. A bunch of people from school are going out to the Jackson's barn later."
"Why does that matter to you, Logan? It's not like we're going. Mum won't be gone long enough for us to. And since when do you care about those kinds of things?"
He was strangely social lately. It wasn't like him. It's not necessarily bad...well it wasn't, until two days ago. I woke up to an empty home. Mum left a note on the counter, otherwise I would of started to worry. 'The Quinn family needed to borrow some milk. I should be back by about noon. I left some biscuits in the oven for your breakfast. Logan's out too, with some friends from school he said. Won't be back till late afternoon probably. Don't forget your chores, dear. Love, Mum' is what the note said. And she was right. I finished milking the cows and collecting the chickens' eggs before Mum arrived home. We were in bed for about fifteen minutes by the time I finally heard Logan creep through the creaking front door.
'Okay. Back to the real word, Annette. Your loneliness doesn't matter. So what if he was with other people and not you? Why should you care? This just means it's your turn to make new friends, meet new people, just like Logan.' I had to constantly tell myself. And really, why should I care?
Logan just gave me a look. As if saying 'Am I not allowed to have friends?!' And he was right. I shouldn't care. I had an inward sigh and said "Alright. Well I can't change until you leave, now can I?" fake smiling. He couldn't see through the act though, thankfully. He grinned and quickly ran out, lightly closing the door, as not to slam it. I quickly slipped on my dress and ran outside, to find Logan happily sitting in our backyard tree.
