My first day at University is today and none of my high school friends are joining me. We all went our separate ways. The only person who was determined to go to school with me is my girlfriend, Jin Areum. I've known her since we were both ten years old and we've been dating since our second year in high school. Most couples would separate after high school but Areum believes that we are soul mates so she was willing to go to any University I chose to go to. She could get into any University she wanted because she was pretty much a genius but she decided to follow me. I told her to follow her own dreams but she didn't trust that we would stay together.
Anyway, my love for her seems different than how others describe their love for their significant other. I love her like a sister but I wouldn't dare tell her because it would kill her. I just want her to be happy. She deserves it since her parents died a few years ago when they were on vacation. It was during the time we were just friends. The night she got the call, she came over my house unexpectedly. It was past midnight and I was awake, studying. She cried all night until she fell asleep. I hated seeing her cry. It made me cry and I felt like it was my job to make her happy. She surprised me with a kiss and I couldn't have felt more awkward. Since that night we have been girlfriend and boyfriend.
Kyungsoo was on his way to pick up Areum when he accidentally bumped into someone. It was a man a bit taller than him. He had brown hair that seemed to have a tinge of pink. The man smiled at him. He was about to start talking to him but Kyungsoo simply apologized and quickly walked away in embarrassment.
He knocked on Areum's door as soon as he got to her dorm. They exchanged good mornings and kisses and made their way to class. The first class they had together but the rest of the classes they were separated because Areum had classes that were more challenging for her.
"So are you joining the football team here?" Areum asked Kyungsoo as the two sad down beside each other.
"Yeah, I heard the team here are really good which is part of the reason I chose this University." He responded.
Kyungsoo was part of his high school's football team for the four years he was there. He never wanted to be a professional football player but he loved playing. He never understood why he loved it so much but he did.
"That's great. When are tryouts?" She asked as she fiddled with his fingers.
"Later today at five. Which means we can't go out because you have classes until then. I'm sorry." He frowned.
"It's fine. I already have loads of books I should start reading." She smiled. Areum was afraid of losing Kyungsoo. She was always on edge, feeling that he would get mad at any little thing she did and break up with her. They've never argued about anything because she was a pushover. Kyungsoo was exactly the same but she didn't know it. He was always extremely kind to her because he felt bad that she didn't have parents.
