Fractured Fairytale || Cinderella - 21st Century

Chapter 2

It was a beautiful, sunny morning in the year of 2016 and Cinderella woke up with a yawn, she slowly sat up and got out of bed, putting her slippers on then walked over to the window and slowly opened the curtains, letting only a little bit of light in her room. When she was satisfied she walked back to her bed and unplugged her iPhone from it charger, picking it up and slowly lowering her screens brightness, she unlocked her phone and went on Facebook, checking through her notifications and when she was done she went through her feed, seeing a notice from ... "Oh..my..god! That can't be right..Prince Ethan? But but..!" She bit her lip and read the name over and over ... It was about an upcoming ball at the castle. I can't believe this... She told herself and dropped her phone on her foot, ow ow owww... She hopped around then realised what she was doing and stopped. Okay now this is all just a dream...when you pinch yourself everything will go back to normal... She assured herself and pinched her shoulder, owwww! Okay not a dream... Cinderella got out of Facebook and put her phone down, heading out to the kitchen.

When she got out to the kitchen, she walked over to the cupboard and got out the 'Wheat-bix' and a bowl, she put two in and poured some milk in, along with some sugar. She then sat down and began eating. She ate fairly quickly while watching the news but paused when she heard that there was a post going around on Facebook by the Prince and how everyone was confused, glad I'm not the only one, she quickly resumed with eating her cereal and when she was done, placed it in the dishwasher and went to her room to grab her phone. She liked the Princes post and left a comment 'Definitely coming along. Can't wait!' She smiled to herself and placed her phone back down. Cinderella had read the date and knew it wasn't for another week so she decided to wait till tomorrow to pick her outfit.

It was now 10:46am and Cinderella headed to the lounge room, movie time!, she smiled brightly and sat on the recliner, she reclined it back and went through her movies that she had. She decided to watch her favourite childhood movie, Big Hero 6, so she pressed play, relaxed and watched as the movie started to play, she quickly paused and got up, closing the blinds in her house and making some popcorn with the microwave. She placed the bag inside and set the timer for 1min then pressed 'start' and waited. Cinderella glanced at the tv and bit her lip, excitement was already bubbling inside her and she couldn't wait to finally relax with some popcorn in the dark and watch her favourite childhood movie. The microwave beeped after a short wait and Cinderella poured the popcorn into a large bowl, she walked over to the couch and pressed play.

Cinderella groaned and tilted her head back when she heard a knock on the door and paused the tv, placed her popcorn on the coffee table in front of her and got up. She walked toward her door and opened it, seeing the girl from next door with her two children, "Oh um hello, may I help you?" She asked,
"Oh no we were just wondering if you're going to the ball, it was all over to news," the mother asked with a smile and her daughters also smiled, obviously wanting to know.
"Why yes I am..I saw it on Facebook this morning and on the news, I was just watching a movie, wanna join?" Cinderella answered,
"No no, my children desperately want to organise there things for the ball and asked me to help so I have no choice but thanks for the offer." She replied and chuckled softly, walking off.

A few days had passed and it was now 4 days till the ball, Cinderella was eating lunch and had just remembered, ugh! Dammit..how much time left? She asked herself and walked over to the calendar, ah good..4 days.. She let out a breath of relief and stood up, leaving her lunch on the bench and walked to her room, she opened her closet and saw a dress she had bought a few days after moving in to the apartment and grabbed it, it was a pale purple and had a couple of rows of solar-powered LED lights down the bottom. She laid it out on her bed and remembered the hover board she had gotten for her 19th birthday, she searched her room and found it in a box in the back of her closet. She grabbed it and hopped on it, riding through her room with a smile and went out I to the kitchen, laughing and stopped at her couch, hopped off and looked around with a large, goofy smile on her face, she couldn't wait for the ball!
