About 3 days after I was released from the hospital, I called Tahoe to have lunch with me so we could have a serious bro talk. As he walked through the door of the restaurant, I had to fight from getting emotional, I wanted to remain as manly as possible. But how could i? After all we’d been through, he was my last remaining sibling. Sure I had a biological brother and a sister, but they were both older. They hadn’t been the places we’d been or done the things we’d done. Me and Tahoe had been through it all, and had lost the same friends. To be honest I felt closer to him than I did my own brother.

“How you feeling bro?” He said, as he sat down and grabbed the menu the cute waitress was handing to him. “I’m fine, you know me. Heart like a bull” I said jokingly. “Not even a bull can handle all the crap you’ve been through” He replied with a laugh. “So what’s on your mind Max?” I paused, trying to figure out how to say what I wanted to say. I was never good at planning my words, whenever tried I often blurted out the first scenario can that came to mind. “You can’t quit music bro!!” I blurted out “we need music, it’s all we know.” He looked at me reluctantly and replied “Dude I can’t stay” I felt hurt that my only true friend left in this world was abandoning what we started. “You can’t go msn!! What about your love for the clef?” I said almost yelling at this point. “The what?” He said confused.. “look music has done a few great things for us, but it’s also cost us a lot, things we didn’t have to lose, we lost. Music isn’t good for us, so…I’m at, and if you knew what was good for you, you’d get out too” I sat there, motionless for a few seconds, I didn’t like his decision, but I respected it. “I..I can’t man, I owe it to…to Emily.” I quickly changed the subject “So what are your plans after graduation?” Surprisingly we never talked about life after highschool, but knowing Tahoe, I figured his plans weren’t college. “I’m moving to Hawaii” He said. “Oh yeah? You and your family?” “Naaa just me, my dad set up a bank account for me and he’s keep it stocked with money.” “Wow” I said “What are you gonna do down there?” I asked

“Ahhh you know, just chill. Go where that Hawaiian breeze takes me. My go pro in surfing. Hey you should come with me, we’d make a great team.” He said with a smile. “Naaa” I  replied. “I’m gonna stick with this music thing”  He looked at me disappointed, “Sigh, I was hoping to talk you out of it but…here” He handed me a slip of paper “My dad still wants to represent you, he’s already been holding auditions, he’s gonna get you your own band. If you’re serious he’ll help you.” I took the paper and said “Thanks dude, No regrets right?” He let go of the slip of paper and said with very serious eyes

“No bro…I think we’ll both regret this one”
