Short-lived Pleasures

She took her seat next to him as usual. Only, today, something seemed different. There seemed to be more comfort in their whispered words as they sat through a long boring lecture. She felt a warm and calm sensation. He was more talkative and approachable as compared to before. She didn't hold back her thoughts anymore. Their conversation was easy. 'Maybe, this might actually work out,' she thought. Yet something bothered her in the back of her mind. She had an uneasy intuitive feeling that even though she liked this level of comfort, it's only going to turn to poison and she would be the only one to get hurt. Still, she brushed away the feeling and decided that she would enjoy the moment and stop worrying about what would come next. Little did she know that she was falling not into a rabbit hole with wonders beyond, but into Tartarus.
