Algebra two was super boring but it's a lot better having to endure it with Ashlynn.

I discovered my chemistry teacher is psychotic.

The entire class period, Ms. Elma talked about protons and neutrons loving each other....Creepy.

My French teacher, Mr. Dupont, is wonderful. He's a little old but his passion for French is incredible. He's also fluent in Italian, German, Spanish, and Creole. That's six languages! Even though I was in such a great mood from French class, it immediately went away when I realized what my next class was.

Or rather, who was teaching it.

As I was walking into Mr. Willow's room, I tried to tell myself that maybe he's not that bad. Maybe I just need a more optimistic look on the situation. So, with my head held high, I walked in. I looked around to see that my class consisted of about ten people.

Oh this just keeps getting better.

I stopped myself. C'mon Eden Belle Matthews, be optimistic!

The bell finally rang and Mr. Willow walked to the front of the class.

"Afternoon everyone. I know most of you may be tired from the first day back to school, but we still have an hour left so lets all try hard to focus."

Who was he talking to? I looked around and saw two boys about to fall asleep.

Oh, them.

Mr. Willow began taking attendance, which didn't last very long considering the number of students. "Eden Matthews?"

"Here." I replied.

He looked up and recognized me. "Nice to see you again, Eden."

Wow, he almost said it like he meant it.

"Okay, class. Over the next year we will cover what life was like before the war, all the way to how our necklaces work and the different ways they work."

A girl in the back raised her hand. "Just out of curiosity, Mr. Willow, why do you supposedly know so much about the necklaces if you don't wear one?"

Oh, dang. I didn't even think about that! She's right. How could anyone know so much about it yet not even wear one?

"Miss Davis, although I do understand why you're asking this question and I presume your classmates are curious as well, I'm afraid that's none of your business. Although, since this class is so small, I suppose I can tell you."

"I choose not to wear a necklace because when I was a child, my parents decided to have the surgery done for me. Although the surgery is said to be harmless, something went wrong. The doctors found I had a small tumor in my heart that they needed to remove immediately. After they removed it, they discovered the cancer had damaged my hormone and was no longer able to be used in the necklace."

Oh my gosh. That's horrible! Now he can't find his soulmate and if he does it's going to be so much harder to find. I mean, what if he already found her but he didn't know? I feel so bad for no liking him before.

The bell rang and pulled me out of my thoughts. I noticed everyone was out of their seats giving Mr. Willow their apologies.

I realized I was the only one still sitting. Great, now I feel worse.

As I stood up, I saw I was the only one left too. "Mr. Willow, I wanted to thank you for sharing that with the class. I know that must have been hard for you to open up like that to a bunch of students you hardly know. And umm..I'm really looking forward to learning from you. You seem to be very passionate about what you teach."

He smiled at me. "Thank you, Eden. You don't know how much that means to me."

I smiled and walked out to see Ashlynn waiting for me with a confused look on her face.

"What?" I asked.

"Your necklace. It turned blue as you were walking out here."

I looked down and saw it fading. Why does it keep doing that?

"Yeah, it's been doing that all day. I wonder why..."

"That's really weird, Eden. But c'mon! We have to get dresses for tonight's party!"

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that.
