Marinetti's P.O.V.
"He was totally staring at you, Marinette, I swear," Alya whispers, nudging me across the aisle, "his eyes were on you for a good minute."
I shake my head, "Nuh uh. He doesn't see me like that. Believe me, I'd know it if he saw me."
"So now you're telepathic?" My best friend asks incredulously, "Please, Mari, you gotta believe me. He saw you."
"C'mon Ay--"
"Ladies, is there something interesting you'd like to share with the class?" Our history teacher asks, glaring in our direction.
We both fall silent instantly, slumping down in our seats. Great, not only is my best friend lying to me but now I'm most likely going to get detention because of it. This is a bad start to a crappy day. The next twenty minutes creep by slowly as the old hag drones on and on about people and dates I couldn't care less about. Why do we need to know this, anyways? Shouldn't we be learning things that are useful and that we can use in our everyday lives?
I'm so deep in my sea of grumpiness that I almost miss it when the bell rings. Tikki literally has to jab me through my bag. I jump to my feet, flustered and startled, only to bump right into my long-time crush Adrien.
"Oof!" He grunts, falling to the floor.
I fair better than him, stumbling backwards into my seat. Only once I've caught my breath do I dare to look up again. He's standing and dusting himself off, a pained look on his face. I'm going to die, I panic, this'll be the end of me.
"I-I'm so sorry!" I stammer, "I wasn't paying attention! Are you okay?"
He looks up, his green eyes glowing. My heart begins to pound and my hands begin to sweat. I feel like I'm about to pass out. When he smiles, it only gets worse.
"It's okay, Marinette," he says gently, "I'm fine. Are you okay?"
I can barely form words with my leaden tongue, "Y-Yeah."
"Good," he nods, "now you might want to get to your next class. The late bell's about to ring."
"R-Right," I manage a shaky smile before darting around him and out the door. I brace myself against the corridor wall, trying to calm my fluttering heart. Get a grip, Marinette, get a grip.
Slowly, I push away from the cold stone, heading down the hall to my Literature class. But, before I know what's happening, there's a loud crash and I'm thrown to the floor. Glass shatters around me and I instinctively curl in on myself. What could it be? A flash storm of some kind?
"Marinette!" I hear Tikki's voice, "Get up! It's Stormy Weather!"
"Oh no!" I gasp, dragging myself to my feet, "How did she find me here?"
I barely have time to notice the wreckage around me or Adrien exiting his classroom as I dash for a place to transform. I find an empty lounge just around the corner. Once inside, I shout, "Tikki, spots on!"
