"Kenma! Hurry up!" Tsumi yelled and waved her crinkled paper in Kenma's stoic face as they walked down the semi crowded hallway. She stopped mid way in the threshold of a classroom and leaned through. A silky brown ponytail whipped behind her as she moved her head from left to right. Kenma sighed and grabbed her hand, dragging her further down the hall.

"Tsumi, that's not our class."

Everyone looked at her strangely. Aside from the fact that she was new to the school. She was the only girl in the school wearing pants and sneakers. The only girl that wore a tie instead of a bow. And out of everyone she was the loudest so early in the morning. Everyone could pinpoint that we were polar opposites.

The warning bell rang. Tsumi and Kenma had arrived early to class and sat beside each other in the back of the class. Tsumi had taken Kuroo's seat. Though Kenma doubted that it was actually his.

"Everyone open your chemistry books to chapter eleven. Today we're going to start Pressure conversions with Dalton's proportional law."
The teachers voice was a drawl. Kenma kept looking to the door as if expecting Kuroo to pop there out of thin air.
He wish he did.

I wonder why he's not here yet?
Does he come later than usual sometimes?
Why am I so concerned about it?

He sighed softly to himself and shook his head. Locks of hair rolled down his chest from his shoulder.

Tsumi leaned over and nudged Kenma. "I can't wait to see your boyfriend." She smirked as she swung her legs back and forth under the table.

He waved his hands frantically about himself and shook his head. He couldn't seem to process no from his lips. "Don't worry, as your wing man I won't do anything drastic."

"Miss Seishin!?" The teachers deep voice bellowed through the classroom. Everyone quieted as Tsumi crossed her arms and leaned back in her seat.
So far, she was doing a good job of keeping her attitude in check. He had begun to remember, if this were last year she'd have had an altercation with the teacher by now.

Kenma turned towards the door and laid his head upon his forearm.
The rest of the class snailed by.
It seemed like an eternity.
And there was no sigh of Kuroo.

                               •••

Kenma didn't wait behind for everyone to leave. He was actually the first one out of class. Tsumi happily trotted behind him. Taking in her new environment.
"That Kuroo guy wasn't there. Is he a hoodlum or something?"
"Because he doesn't show up fort hour he's a delinquent now?"

They laughed to themselves as they walked towards the end of the corridor. Tsumi suddenly stopped. Her attention seemed to be focused outside.

"Cool...Kenma!" She called.
"What?" Kenma slowly jogged to meet her at the door. "Let's play basketball with those guys." She gestured out at the basketball court that lay behind a garden that the Environmentalist club had been planting for weeks.
         Or so he'd heard.

Tsumi shouted over to the crowd of guys that were arguing about who would tip the ball off first. They all looked back at her as she inches closer to the gate.

Kenma hid behind her and clutched at the back of her blazer.
    "I wanna play basketball."
She placed her hands sassily on her hips. One of the guys laughed and wiped his sweaty face with the bottom of his shirt. "If she plays I'm out."

Tsumi walked over to him and folded her arms across her chest.
Even if Tsumi knew she couldn't win, she'd try to fight just as hard, or even harder. Kenma wanted to help or break up the little confrontation they had.
    But he didn't know how.
