Tsumi paced around the empty classroom. Her and Kenma had stayed behind after the bell because Tsumi said she wanted to discuss something.

She finally stopped and about faced towards him. Kenma looked up, raising an eyebrow at how Tsumi executed herself. It wasn't like her to be so jittery and attentive.

"I should kick Kuroo's face in."

Kenma cocked his head and squinted in confusion. A little laugh escaped his lips. "Huh?"

"That dunt is takin' you away from me. I swear, you spend more time with him than me. That's breaking the best friend code Kenma. And I don't want to be a third wheel around you guys."
She whined, folded her arms under her chest and scrunched her nose. Tsumi was always protective of Kenma, like another older sister. And now that he was spending a lot of time with Kuroo, her maternal instincts were kicking in.

Kenma laughed, almost to the point of crying. "Tsumi, when you told me you needed to talk about something I thought it was important."
"This is important! He's one smooth pervert. That bastard."
"He's not a pervert. Geez, you always get the wrong idea. Anyway we don't spend that much time together and we should get to our next class before we get detention."
"Hold on." She held out a hand and popped her hip out towards the hallway. She poked her head out to see if anyone was around.
"Would you at least tell me what you guys have been doing these  past four weeks? I'm your best friend ya know."

"Nothing that you're thinking about."

Without a word Tsumi turned and walked to the door waiting for Kenma to grab his books.

The hallways were less crowded today. It was the last day of school before spring break. Tsumi was humming silently to herself as they entered the class. Tsumi stopped two steps from the doorway. She glowered at something down the hall. Kenma wondered what she was gawking at, she didn't seem like her eccentric self.

Kuroo stood with his back against the locker. A laugh erupted from his vocals, a smile crept his face that Kenma hadn't seen before.
In front of him, a girl with long, curly brown hair. The girl was taller than him. With every move she made her hair swung behind her. She covered her mouth as she laughed and touched his shoulder playfully.

Tsumi pulled him away and dragged him to the back of the classroom. There was still a while before anyone would come in. It didn't suit her, that scowl never left her face. "Kenma." She cupped her hands around his jaw and lowered her head to his. He looked at the ground for a minute.

Crying would make Tsumi even more angry. Kenma didn't want her getting mad for his sake.
A part of him couldn't believe it. Why was he upset over something like this? Sure he'd grown close to Kuroo, but that was it. Why was he crying over something that was never his? Someone that would never be his?

It wasn't making sense to him.

He brought his hands to his face and turned towards the entrance of the room. He mumbled under his breath.
"Tsumi, I'm going home."
"Kenma..." She wanted to say something. She wanted to assure him that Kuroo wasn't worth a second thought. Kenma sighed. He felt undignified that he felt this way.

He didn't have the right to feel this way, and yet the sight of seeing Kuroo with that girl sickened him.

"I'll go with you." She felt as though she couldn't say anything to change his mind, she quickly gathered her things and followed Kenma out of the classroom. Outside she met eyes with Kuroo, at whom she gave a scowl.

                               •••

He began to walk towards them, waving of the girl who stood beside him. She waved back and continued down the hall. "Tsumi, what's with the face?" He laughed, but quickly stopped seeing as neither of them returned his humor. He took on a serious tone, looking from Tsumi to Kenma for an answer. "Kenma?"

Kenma continued to walk. Away from Tsumi and Kuroo. He needed to be alone. At the moment clearing his mind seemed the best thing to do.

He halted, not of his own will. He turned around, an attempt to snatch away wouldn't do anything productive.
His face was red. Tears crept the corners of his eyes. He pressed his lips and tries to jerk away. Reluctantly letting Kuroo drag him into a corner.
The corridor was empty. The classrooms were dark and bodiless. A dim emergency light shun at the opposite of the hall. Kuroo continued to grasp on Kenma's blazer. It felt like he was holding on for dear life.

"What's wrong?" He placed his hand on his cheek and dotingly stared into his eyes. He was worried.
"Did I do something?...If I did I'm sorry." Kuroo's voice began to crack towards the end. Which made Kenma release the tears he'd been holding in.
Kenma brought his hands to his face and began to bawl. He would've buckled to the ground if Kuroo hadn't caught him. He held him close, wrapping his hands tightly around his waist. Kenma buried his face in Kuroo's chest as he silently cried.

He felt horrible. Having to let Kuroo comfort him. He was crying for him. It made Kenma cry even harder. Why was he wasting his tears on him?
Kenma pushed away and kept his eyes to the floor. His hands trembled as he etched his fingernails into his sweater. "...Kuroo." He sniffled. Kuroo's voice broke. "Kenma, what did I do?" Kenma shook his head and loosened the hold on Kuroo's sweater. He continued his silence, all the while feeling guilty that Kuroo thought he was the source.

"Stay away from Kenma." Tsumi snatched Kenma away towards her and stood informer of him.
"Leave her alone!"
"I don't know what I did?!" He stretched his hands out in front of him.
"Hurting her would be the last thing is ever want to do." He rubbed the bridge of his nose and sighed heavily.

"You led her on you asshole."
Tsumi tightened her grip around Kenma's small wrist.

"What? How?"
"That girl you were talking to earlier. Pfft, don't play dumb."
He raised his head and slid his hand down his face as he looked towards the ceiling. That was it.
He didn't say anything. Whether they were friends or not. How he felt about him. Silence was welcomed with immense hospitality. Rain began to latte against the windows in a secession that would go on for hours.

"So you're not even going to try to clear it up? What kind of-?"
"She's a friend of mine. That's all."

    Tsumi wasn't having it.
"Wow. I thought you really liked her." She let go of Kenma and clenched her fist angrily walking towards him.
If Kenma hadn't stopped her she would've punched him.

"I do. This wouldn't be hurting me so much if I didn't!" He stepped closer to Kenma and took him by head, bringing him to his chest he whispered, "Why won't you tell me anything?"

That was it. Those familiar words that shattered him. A question he never could find the answer to.
He stood there mouth agape as Kuroo pulled away. Tsumi barged towards Kuroo, ready to bombard him with profanity. "Didn't I say-."

Kenma screamed. Tsumi and Kuroo were both taken aback at Kenma's sudden outburst.
"I want to! But it's hard. I want to tell you everything but I don't know what you'll say! I'm scared and..." He brought his hands to his face to cover the tears. "Kenma." Kuroo spoke softly and took Kenma's hands from his face.

He wiped away the tears on his soaked, reddened cheeks. Taking his face, he levels his eyes to his. Kuroo pressed his lips together and tightened his fingers in Kenma's hair.

"Kenma, I promise I won't ever make you feel like that again. So I don't ever want to see you cry again."
