Riley's POV
"What was that for?' He had a shimmer in his eyes as he made a pouty lip at me for pulling out of our hug.
"So I could do this." I know it probably seemed like I was going to kiss him, but not right now, maybe after the task at hand. But, even though I wasn't planning a kiss, I could that is what Farkle was expecting.
I put my right hand firmly up against his chest and pushed him backwards. I had to hold back laughing at myself, because I knew he was going to trip and fall onto my bed once he hit it.
"Whatcha doing?" He looked at me confused, but still excited and all smiles. He let out a small chuckle right before the back of his leg hit the side of my bed and he fell onto it on his back. I couldn't help but let out a small smirk as he fell.
"Okay, wait here, I have something for you." I smiled wide and turned around to run back to my closet. Once I got to the already open closet from rummages for a movie, I reached to the top shelf and pulled out a beautifully wrapped gift.
"Riley? Why did you get me a gift? It is nowhere close to my birthday, you had no idea I was going to ask you out today, and since we weren't dating, we have no anniversaries, so why the gift?" Oh boys. They are so clueless sometimes.
"Correction. Just because we weren't dating does not mean we don't have anniversaries. There are such things as friendship anniversaries you know? I like to call them friend-aversaries. Anyway, our friend-aversary was technically two days ago, but I wanted to wait until the first day of school, because we met and became friends the first day of second grade when I was the new kid and no one would talk to me. But you did. And I know it's no big number, like five or ten years, it's just seven, but it is the first day of high school, so why not?"
"You didn't have to get me anything Riles, hell, I didn't even consider this day special until today." Today is definitely a special day from now one, but so is the day our friendship started, so a gift, especially this gift, is necessary.
To understand the gift, you had to be either Farkle, Farkle's family, or me. Only we would understand why this gift is so special. On the first day of second grade, I forgot a pencil to write with because before that day I was home-schooled, so I was used to just running to my desk at home to grab one. So, in need of one, I turned to my new found friend, Farkle. The only extra writing utensil he had was a pen, but it wasn't a normal black pen. It was a personalized item. It was one of those pens that has twenty different colors, but it also had a picture of his family on it. His family before the tragedy happened. When Farkle was five, his older sister, Clary, at eight years old, was in the backseat of the car with Farkle's mom driving. A drunk driving ran a red light and hit the tail end of the car making it spin and the back side of the car, the one Clary was on, smacked the light post and she died on impact. The pen was Farkle's birthday gift from Clary and it meant everything to him once she died. He let me use it because he trusted me and while we were working he told me the story behind it. I learned more about the story and more details over the years as we both got older and understood more things. I didn't lose the pen, I gave it back right after I was done with it. But the next day, Billy, one of the school bullies took it out of Farkle's desk during recess and never gave it back. I spent years trying to track it down, and I finally found it in the beginning of the summer. It took everything I had not to give it to him sooner, even though we weren't really talking.
"Well, today is special now because of us, and two days ago is special because of friendship, so just accept that I got you a gift." I handed him the small box and sat down next to him on the bed.
"Fine. But now I'm going to have to get you something, because if I don't I'll feel really bad."
"You don't owe me anything Farkle. Being here with you, in this way, us, is enough of a gift for me." He's is super sweet, but I definitely don't need anything, especially because once he sees the gift, he is going to want to buy me something really expensive, and I don't need that.
"Whatever you say. I'll just surprise you with a gift one day."
"Okay, okay. Just open it, would you?" He laughed and began to undo the neat little bow on top. Once he took the wrapping paper off and threw it on the floor he took the lip off the box to find a small pen box neatly packed in with tissue paper. He pulled it out and just looked at me with a weird face.
"You got me a pen? Just a pen, but you just had to get me it? What is so special about a pen?"
"Oh my God, just open the box. You'll see once you actually look at the gift." He looked at me weirdly again before looking back down at the box and taking the lid off. His face and his whole body seemed to slow and almost fall over. He looked back up with me with tears in his eyes.
"Riley... How did you get this? Where did you even find it?" He paused, waiting for an answer, but before I could speak again, his face fell. " Oh my God, Riley, I'm so sorry for judging your gift before I opened it. This didn't even cross my mind when I thought of a pen. Riley, I'm so sorry."
I just hugged him, I couldn't help it, he was almost hysterical. I wanted to tell him where I got it, but when I spoke up, he shushed me by putting his pointer finger to my lips.
"No, Riley, I don't want to know. All I need to know for now is that you found it, I have it, and I have you. Now, let's pop in this movie and relax."
"Okay! But remember, if you ever wanna know where and how I got this, just ask me. Okay?"
"Deal."
I got up off the bed and grabbed the movie off the floor from when I dropped it to hug Farkle.
"Are you sure you're okay with watching this movie? It is a sappy romance movie. We could always watch a scary movie, or an action packed one instead." I felt bad. It was his day to relax and enjoy too, I didn't want to make him watch a chick flick if he didn't want to.
"Nah, it's all good. I think I remember actually liking this one." His chuckled filled the room, making me smile. I quickly turned around, opened my television stand cabinet, popped the movie in, and grabbed the remote. "I'm going to go make some popcorn. Any special requests?"
"Uhh, yea, can you make me a bowl with the ranch powder stuff on it?" I know it sounds gross, but it tastes amazing. Much better than just butter and popcorn anyways.
"As you request, my lady." Farkle bowed slightly, laughed, and then left me alone in my bedroom for the second time this morning to go get food. I climbed into my bed, hid under the covers, and just waited for him to return.
By the time he got back the previews for movies that we already out on DVD were done and the screen was waiting on the 'Play Movie' options.
As Farkle got comfy next to me, I hit play on the movie. By the time the movie was actually getting to the story line, and not just the background details, I was half asleep with my head on Farkle's chest. The last thing I remember before dozing off was Farkle playing with my hair and him whispering the words 'I'm glad you're here with me'.

Author's Note
1)Sorry for not updating in a while. I've been really busy with school and actually getting some sleep so yea.
2) Sorry this chapter is really small compared to my others, especially my last 2 part chapter. I just wanted to get the Riarkle beginning part done so I could go back to the MAIN main character of Maya. (and yes I meant to write 'main' twice).
