Hide in the night

Chapter 2/So it begins

I woke up in my new house laying down on my new black couch. I touch my head to find a cold ice pack. It was melting and I felt the water run down the sides of my temples. I forced my self up and set the ice pack on the couch. I got up and went to a mirror. I saw a slim, curvy, gray eyed girl look back at me. I turn to Luke who is in the kitchen looking through my empty pantry.

"Hey, you jackass get out of my house!" I yelled as i picked up a glass vase that was empty of flowers.

"No no no, listen I can explain,"Luke said as he grasped the edge of my counter. "I didn't mean to hurt you, there is a disease going around that is turning people into..."

I cut him off as I swung at him with the glass vase. He lunged to the side and grabbed me from behind. He smacked the vase out of my hand and it hit the floor breaking in to thousands of pieces. I started to kick and scream. He let me go and I fell onto the floor. Luke seemed to be 6'2 and I am 5'4, I'm a midget compared to him. His muscular body flexed as he bent down to help me off the ground.

"Are you okay Skyler?," He said as he placed me on the counter.

"Whats going on?" I sobbed, putting my head in my heads

"There is a disease going around that turn people crazy, I have seen it." He said as he lifted up my head, "They start to attack other people, they start to eat them and rip them open."

"What, I just moved here!" I yelled jumping off my counter. I ran to the TV and turned it on, I switched it to the news.

"Breaking News, A life threatening disease has entered Georgia state, affecting 16 people already, the sickness seems to affect peoples brain causing them to do inhumanly actions like cannibalism. At least 15 other states are under going this situation as well. The CDC has informed us to stay indoors and board up your house, for the people who came into contact with the disease may be dangerous"

"Shit!" Luke said as he ran his hands through his hair. "We gotta go, Now!"

"I just freaking moved here and i'm leaving my brand new house now?" I said as I turned off the TV. "Its fine the CDC has this under control, and if the people are dangerous, there is probably police out there stopping them."

"You don't understand Skyler, I traveled here from Arizona, they put the whole state on lock down!" He yelled, " I got out of there in time, the news hasn't said anything because they don't want panic."

"Well they are doing a great job!" I replied sarcastically . "What do we do?"

"We gather supplies, food, everything that is useful, we leave to the gas station and fill up my tank, we drive down to Florida, I know someone who has a boat that we can use, we can take the boat and wait things out, if things pass we head back here and everything good, if things get worse we are going to have to think from there, sound good?" Luke said as he gave me a flirtatious look.

"I cant believe i'm going to say this but, fuck it lets go."I said as I ran to my backpack and emptied it out.

Luke smiled.

"One problem, this is a new house so its empty with food..." I said with a frown

Luke pulled out a stack of money. My jaw hit the floor.

"If things don't go downhill before we pass a grocery store, we can use this money to buy what we need," He said with a reassuring face.

About a half an hour later of searching the house of supplies, Luke and I were about to leave.

"You ready kiddo,"

"I'm ready all right," I replied

We got into his truck and head off. We got to a gas station and started to fill up the tank. He gave me some money to go into the station and buy some food. I went inside and started to grab some bags of chips and cans of food. I found a 12 pack of water and grabbed that too. I went up to the cashier. She was coughing and shaking. 

"You alright ma'm," I asked

"I'm just sick hunny that is all,"The women replied with another cough. "Is that a..."

She started to cough up blood. She fell on the floor and started convulsing. 

"Om my god are you okay?"I yelled as i looked over the counter.

She stopped. She stood there lying still. 

"Hello?" I faintly said

I heard a low growl coming from the women. She started to get up slowly. When she turned around her eyes were whiter than snow. She lunged at me. I fell backwards and hit a rack of food. It came tumbling down on me. She started to climb over the counter, she successfully got over but fell. She fell on her arm. I heard a loud crack coming from her arm. When she got up her arm was bent and she seemed to experience no pain. She started to walk towards me. I picked up the rack and shoved it into her stomach. It pierced through her skin, but yet she kept coming at me. She was blocking the door so I couldn't run out.

I screamed as loud as I can"Luke help me!"

The women fell on top of me. I held her up by her shoulders. She was biting and growling at me.

"LUKE HELP!" I screamed even louder.

The doors to the station banged open. Luke came running in and saw me struggling to keep this thing off me.

"My arms are getting weak help!" I grunted as I kept this thing from falling on me

All I see is a tip of a blade pierce through her head. All of her motion stopped. All of her blood on me. I got up and immediately threw up. The sight of another persons blood on me made me sick.

"Are you, okay did it bite or scratch you? Luke said as he helped me stay up.

"N-n-no, i-i-i'm f-f-fine,"I squeaked as I was shaking from fear.

Luke helped me to his truck.

"Stay here ill go get the food, why don't you change into something else."Luke said as he ran back to the station.

I took off my shirt and went to the back of the truck to see if my other shirt was there. I found my tight black spaghetti string  tank top and put it on. I kept my camo pants on and my black air forces on. Even though I just witnessed someone die I still look good. I smiled to the thought of that. Luke came running back from the station with his hands full. I went to go help him.

"Damn Skyler you look good," Luke winked at me.

"Oh shut up it isint the time or the place," I laughed nervously. We threw everything in the trunk and since there was no one in the station we got 3 containers and filled them up with gas just in case. We headed off. The sky turned orange and purple. The night was coming.
