After what Cid said he told Jack to return me to my room. I sat on the edge of the bed in such of a puzzlement. Who really my father? How did it just get cold in a split second and what did I see? Cid breathe was reality what your breathe would look like in the winter. I bring my hands up to my face begin to toss and turn on the bed. Mom, does she even know about all of this? I'm getting more questions than answers. I need to talk to someone else or start to figure this out on my own.
I lay there thinking in my room look at the ceiling thinking about everything, which didn't help any. I was more confused now than I was before. If Cid was my father, why didn't he come see me when I was growing up? I bit my lip to hold back the tears that will flow like a river. I can sympathize why he didn't, probably because he didn't want me to live this life that I'm forever stuck in. Or he didn't want me to think is was my father then find out if he wasn't. Mom, why didn't you just tell me? The tears fall into my cheeks and biting my lip no longer helped to stop it. Did my parents not love me enough to tell the truth? I start to cry uncontrollably, but no sound was able to escape my mouth. After the tears stop I laid on my bed facing the window with the curtain was cracked opened. I don't know how long I stared at the window as the tears on my face dried causing me to slowly drifting off.
Opening my eyes to seeing I was in the middle of a forest. It's was just damp as if I just rained; with it being chilling and light foggy it gave the forest an eerie sense. There a decent amount of light to see where you were walking. Looking around I spot a lake in the distance. Cautiously, I walk towards this lake. When I reached it I rest my knee just barely an inch away from the water when it would it hit shore. My heart was at pace with the waves pulling out and in on the shore. I was at peace or so I thought. For the split second my eyes blinked closed, everything change. It went straight back to the nightmares of those horrible shadow creatures.
I jolting out of my bed to bagging on my door. It was pitch black in my room. I almost thought I was still in a nightmare, but from the moon casting its dim light across the outside world it peeked between the opened curtains. Quickly pushing the lock button on my IPod to see the time; seriously its midnight and people are trying to sleep. Lugging my dead-tired self out of bed to the door to seeing the one thing I regret getting out of bed for. It's Hunter. I roll my eyes in disgust as I ask, "What do you want?"
"I want to apologize for how I acted earlier." Hunter said with his light brown hair fell down the side of his face some.
"Why? Couldn't have this waited until tomorrow." I say with dread of having to spend more time at the door than in my bed.
"Actually, no it couldn't. I can tell you gave the impression you wanted us earlier to prove it to you what we said was true. Well, I'm going to prove it to you and that means at night."
"Why not during the day?" Questioning him entirely. Is he trying to scare me?
"Because we can't use our abilities out of the classrooms or the fighting chambers. We aren't able to use outside those chambers, but some of us have found ways to use them in our rooms or outside at night. We would be spotted if we went during the day." Hunter walks a few feet away from my door to turn around to smile at me. "Maybe you'll get to see a dragon, possibly a fairy or two." Hunter continues to walk down the hall. You know that saying the curiosity killed the cat, well I'm the cat in this one. Dashing after him, but keeping my distance.
We've walked all over this place I start to lose my patience. "Hunter where are we going? There's been plenty of windows and doors we could have gone through to outside." I hiss at him. I regret getting out of my bed to follow this idiot around. We stop at the end of a hallway that has a window. Unlike the other windows we've passed this was the only window to have a padlock. To my disbelief, Hunter reached into his pocket and pulled out a key, which unlocked window. Hunter opened the window slowly reaching his hand out to help me go first. I look out to see it was just a small drop from the window to the ground. With ease I land completely okay. I turn around to see that Hunter somehow dangerously was standing on the outside edge of the windowsill as he slowly closed the window behind us. Looks like no turn back now.
It was a full moon tonight so I can see everything almost perfectly. Following Hunter through the abounding amount of trees surrounding the estate. We mazed though the thickest of the trees and brushes with the dirt level always making small hills or holes to get caught in. I'm not made to be hiking; that's if you could concern this hiking. Hunter quickly gestures with his hands to get low as he gets down on all fours and crawls under a brush. I was ready to give Hunter the slip and give up this nonsense. Until a part of me say follow him, something will happen. It's was neither good or bad feeling about this, so I did the same. Crawling though that unknown bush without knowing if a nest of spiders or bugs lived in it to where Hunter await for me.
He put his index finger up to his lips looking at me and pointed to a field. I quietly and patiently look into that field trying to notice anything out of the ordinary. I was expecting something mysteriously to happened to right away, but Hunter whispering nearly making me jump. "The fairies in your world you call the lightening bugs or fireflies. Most actually fairies are insects, but can change into their true form if they please. Your world make fairies seem tricksters and trouble makers with some bad attitude. Really they're the most missed understood creatures to mankind. They love to help, but under a full moon they come together once a year in certain areas and it's a beautiful site to see. Something a non believer should see." Hunter whispered with such tranquility in his voice. I looked at him for a slip second and he probably looked happier here than being in the estate. "Look there's one." He said quietly and pointed to something in the distance. Quickly looking in the distance in that field were fireflies flying up into the air. They're bright yellow lights grew in size. They were sort like human shaped, but still had a similar look to what the outsider world thought faires looked like. "Your world had people who saw this and manipulated what stories that they could make up. Or just like my mother you use whatever information about us to tell the world, but they'll never believe you or like you've lost your marbles." Hunter quickly loses if peaceful look. Not to let alone a smile that looked real for the first time in forever. I wanted to ask what happened to his mother, but I shouldn't be nosey. Hunter crawls out of the bushes I take one more glance at the field. To see thousands of fireflies to be correct fairies. Its truly a beautiful site to see. I crawl out from this bush to see Hunter stand tall ready to show something else. "There's one last thing I personally want to show you. You'll think it's impossible for this to work in the new world around you, but you'll be surprised."
"Why do you have to show me anything else? Fairies are real, some people have been denying for God who knows how long." I say as I wave my hand over towards the bushes. "Isn't this proof enough?" I ask with a sigh under my breathe. Hunter starts walking so I guess I have to follow. It's hard to admit I was wrong, but it was time to get the taste of my own medicine, right? "I was rude to you and your friends thinking you guys were all mad. My whole life has been flipped upside down, I need to get my act together. I'm sorry for how I was to you." I state wanting to bite my tongue. Who doesn't hate giving apologies for when they were wrong?
"Its not your fault; I wouldn't blame you for how you acted. You just been through a lot and we should have told you slowly outsider or not." He looks back at me with small smile. Maybe he's not that bad at all, he seems like a decent guy. We just got on off the wrong foot.
We reached a small clearing with a small pond to it. I'm guessing it's either crystal clear or cloudy water during the day. Hunter picked up a small rock and chucked it into the water. Okay, what will chucking a rock do? "Hey walk to the edge and look at the middle of that pond. Tell me what you see." Hunter says in a slight demanding tone. I walked over to the edge, strange it felt like the dream from earlier. Standing by the edge I could see some with a glowing purple light was coming from the bottom of that pond.
"There's something glo-" I try to say, but something flies out of the water in a spiral above my head. I watch it glide through the air and land on its two feet. It's was a boy probably just a little bit older than Hunter and I. He had black hair that had a tint of purple whenever the moon hit it just right. He was built just like Hunter, but he had a bit of a tummy and feet taller than Hunter too. This stranger seemed to have something rough on his elbows and legs. Gladly enough this stranger at least wore shorts. Hunter advance towards this unknown being as if he knew him. They both have hugs and started to chatter as I'm left alone and confused by the lake.
"Alice, this is a dragon. Of course he's not in his dragon form, but this is Ryu." Hunter stated calmly. I approached the two and nodded at Ryu and he did the same. "Sorry to wake you up this late buddy, but she's an outsider well she needs someone to look after her. I thought you could do it." Hunter was beaming with the element of surprise, yet Ryu and I were not too happy of this communication failure.
