HALSEY

chapter 2

When I turned six on the 6 of June I took Ryn to the meadow just a few feet from home.

"Watch this." I said in the baby voice I've lost now . I laid on the grass and took a deep breath.

I felt the wind on my face and opened my eyes the flowers were now in the air twirling.

Ryn was running after them. I summoned monarch butterflies, Ryn's favorite.

She was so happy when they flew around her. I was so happy. I laughed for the first time.

"Halsey!"

"What?"

"Your hair it changed colour."

"It's called turquoise my hair is only blonde because my actual mom was blonde."

"But your powers."

"I don't understand them."

" hmm okay let's go for ice cream."

We got a dollar each from her mom to buy fudge sticks.

While walking the street lined with stores and restaurants I saw my mom who adopted me.

She was walking in an old navy store.

"Ryn please buy my fudge stick I'll be right back or meet me in old navy."

"Okay."

I made it to the store and found her looking at shirts. I stood behind her until she turned around.

She Jumped.

"Hi mommy." I said meeting her eyes.

"....hi." She said meeting my gaze and looking above me.

"You never came back mommy."

"...I.....umm...couldn't...I forgot."

".....mommy how did you know my name was Halsey?"

"It was  on your blanket."

"That's all I wanted to know before you hurt yourself."

" what ? Hurt myself what are you talking about?"

I used my powers to raise her hand which had a clothes hanger in it and straighten it out.

"Halsey stop! What are you- stop!"

"You never came back mommy."

"Stop!"

People were looking at us now I could feel their curious eyes looking at us.

"Halsey please!" She was trying to resist my powers.
The hanger was just how I wanted it now.

"You never came back mommy."

"Stop now Halsey I'm sorry."

"Mommy you never came you left me all alone."

"Stop please let my ha-"

"YOU NEVER CAME BACK!"

I lowered her arm down fast. The hanger went right into her stomach. She gasped and fell on her knees then her face.

Her blood circled around her. I loved the smell of it. The smell of revenge. My first murder.

"I love you mommy." I gave her a kiss on her cheek and left the store people's eyes still on me. I know they'll call 911.

I looked in the store glass. My hair was a light pink. I'm guessing pleasure was what I was feeling. I enjoyed what I did to her. She deserved it.

Ryn was eating her fudge stick. The sight of her made me calm and happy. I took my fudge stick and started to eat it.

We walked back home. She didn't ask why I went to the store. I'm glad too.
