Tears prickle my eyes giving me a sensation worse than cutting onions. I wouldn't dare let them spill, everyone would give me looks of disapproval and call me ungrateful. Honestly I don't care what they say I didn't ask for this, I didn't want this.

My stylists tighten my dress almost wisping the air from my lungs. They add the finishing touches to my face and adjust the gems in my hair. After what seemed like a lifetime they add my mother's crown consisting of priceless diamonds, sapphires and rubies and her necklace to my neck. Proud of themselves they skip out.

Taking a deep breath I slowly turn and look at myself in my full length mirror. The creature that stands before me is as radiant as the sunlight. This perfect human is not me yet it is me. A cream dress cascades down my body highlighting my features. My face is coloured in the most exotic colours that bring out my aqua eyes. My blonde hair is up in an intricate updo - that I can not even fathom how it stays in place. I look beautiful.

My name is Princess Arianna. I am 17 years old but I have nothing to be afraid of, I am not getting injected because I am royalty. If I wasn't then the laws of my forefathers would apply to me. It is my destiny to be Queen, usually I would be excited, but not with the mindset my parents have instilled in me; it is far better to be feared than loved.

"Arianna, darling you look gorgeous. I know this is your night so I tried to give you the spotlight." My mother says as she rushes in the room.
"Thank you Mother! You look pretty as always," I say slightly monotone.
"Tut you are a princess! Stand up straight and smile," my mother exclaims slightly over dramatically.

"Mother, is there anyway I could skip this ball."

"What nonsense! You will go end of story," She gives me an 'I am not arguing with you' look and strolls out. "The things I do for that girl, this is her coronation party and she has the cheek to ask me that," I hear her mutter from the corridor.

I wasn't always a Princess with huge rooms full of clothes, a priceless jewellery collection and a palace to myself. Up to the age of 12, I could count my possessions easily. There were 3 dresses, 2 pairs of leggings, socks, underwear, a toothbrush and a daisy necklace. I still have the daisy necklace, I would never part with it. My best friend gave it to me; she would call me a nightmare dressed like a daisy. Back then I used to live in an orphanage.

The King and Queen were unable to have children so they searched orphanages looking for their heir. Then they stumbled across me. Apparently I was their perfect heir, which was confusing, I wasn't the slightest bit posh, royal or adorable.

Immediately they took me to this palace and brainwashed everything the orphanage taught me. Since then they have been teaching me - preparing me for my destiny.

The ballroom fills with an extraordinary amount of people; some I know whereas others are a phantom in my mind. Loud music fills the room. Millions of colours hang from the ceiling like a rainbow. The fragrance of men's aftershave tingles my nose. Every metre there are food stands filled with chocolate, sweets, fruit and anything else you could imagine. I place a chocolate truffle in my mouth and let the chocolate melt, smothering my tongue with goodness. My parents left no stone unturned for my coronation party.

I spot my friends huddled together in a corner. I have dozens of friends - Jade, Amber, Lisa, Lauren, Sarah, Caitlyn, Meredith, Olivia, Danielle, Avery, Sam and Selena. I love all my friends dearly but I don't trust any of them except - maybe - Selena and Sam. As princess you have to be careful who to confide in.

"Hi everyone!" I say trying to sound enthusiastic.
"Hi," Jade says.
"Wow, your parents went all out with this didn't they," Sam exclaims.
"Yeah, I don't see the point though." I say.
"Shut up! You are so ungrateful. Just joking! You should have seen your face," Avery, my least liked friend says giggling.
If you gave Avery £1.00 to kill me, she would.
"Maybe if you stop laughing like a disfunctional fool something might go in your head. Just joking! You should have seen your face though." I say mocking her voice and rolling my eyes.
"I will see you later, I need to greet my guests," I say looking directly at Selena and Sam. I know they are the only ones that will find me afterward.

I continue looking through the ballroom - when I spot something in the serum room...
