Finnick's P.O.V.
Hey readers,
Thanks for setting aside the time to read my story instead of doing something productive with your lives.
Love,

"Come on! Let's go to the train! Quickly! We can NOT be late!" She yelled and I wondered how incredibly exited she can be.
I felt like I could hardly breathe. There was a tight know in my throat that made it extra hard not to break down in tears. We got on the train silently. Calpurnia went to make some tea and our mentors just sat on armchairs whispering to each other. This gave me time to study Sarah who was staring blankly outside the window. She had dark eyes and curly blonde hair that came down almost to her waist. She was tall and athletic. Her full lips were pouted and her eyebrows defined.
"Finnick?" She croaked, her voice had gone unused too long.
I looked up puzzled
"That is your name, right?" She asked annoyed
I nodded.
"I wonder. How does such a pretty, little boy like you get a death sentence?" She said sarcastically in a creepy tone.
I didn't speak. She gave me a smirk and went to her cabin and I went to mine. We arrived in the Capitol soon after. And met our stylists.
"Sarah, Finnick. These are the fine artists that will be designing your magnificent ensembles for this year's ceremonies!" Said Calpurnia in awe," Sarah, this is Ennius and Finnick, this is Laurentia. Your prep-teams will be meeting you soon."
I never actually thought of how much attention you get as a tribute. Why not dress someone in designer clothes and 'artistic' -as Calpurnia puts it- makeup.
Three strange Capitol people entered the room. ,
"Hello Finnick!" Said the one of them in a Capitol accent." I'm Lucilla and these are Marcia and Maximinus. We're your prep team. Now, let's get you to beauty- base zero."
"What's that?" I asked
"Oh, it's just when we make you look pretty but natural. No makeup yet but we'll polish your skin and file your nails and all." Said Marcia.
It was amazing how strange they looked. They looked like aliens. Lucilla had short black hair and her skin was tinted blue. Marcia had pink hair and silver tattoos around her eyes like little roses and Maximinus had a strange haircut in green and bright yellow lipstick which made him look sick. About an hour later Laurentia came in. She and my prep team discussed something in the corner.
"Hello, I'm Laurentia. Now, take off your robe."she said with a smile
I couldn't help but laugh. What a way too greet a stranger."
"But I don't have anything under my robe." I protested
"Oh honey, That doesn't really matter. Now get moving, we don't have all day!" Said Marcia
I blushed as I slowly removed my robe. They looked and pointed and Lucilla took notes and after a while they said I could put on my clothes again so I did. They put on my makeup, put a bunch of sprays and creams into my hair and defined my muscles with something they called 'a contour technique'.
"All done. Laurentia will be back with your costume for the tribute parade." Said Maximinus, "We'll see you later." And they all left. Laurentia came in not more than a minute later with a clothes rack full of clothing bags.
"What am I wearing?" I asked pretending to be excited
"This!" She exclaimed pulling a swim short out of the bag.
"That's not clothing. You could have sent me out naked." I protested
"Maybe I should have." She threatened and I gave her dirty look.
I put on my costume along with some kind of blue wrap around my shoulders and a fake trident in my hands. I got outside and saw Sarah. She looked uncomfortable in her two piece bikini. She had seashells and glitter in her hair and a scarfy thingy just like me. She glared at me and I rolled my eyes and I think she actually smiled at me.
"Come on! We can NOT be late." Calpurnia escorted us to our chariot.
My mentor Mags came next to me.
"Now remember, smile. This is all an act. It's a game. Make them love you. You don't have to be yourself just make sure they love you." She said and I nodded
Our chariot was decorated in unnaturally perfect, white roses that reeked of perfume. President Snow was up in his balcony as we rode in. I saw Laurentia with the stylists looking at me pointing to her smile. I realized what she was telling me. This is where I'll be judged by sponsors for the first time. I looked straight into the camera, gave a huge, bright smile, and winked. The audience clapped louder and the screens around us protected my face. President Snow made a speech and then we were back at the tribute center with Calpurina leading us and Laurentia and Ennius trailing behind.
"You have to get to sleep. Tomorrows training starts at 8:00 am SHARP!"
I went to my room and heard Sarah stomp into her's and I decided to take a shower. I pressed a few buttons in the strange cubicle until lots of water and soap sterilized me. I sat down on the floor and did what I'd been needing to do the whole day; cry. I started thinking of my mother, how hard she tried to stay strong in the justice building and how miserably failed. My father, out on the ocean fishing alone, without me. My friend, Annie. Out of everyone of my friends she was the only one who came to visit me at the Justice Building and she even gave me my district token. Something to remind me of home. It was still around my neck because I didn't let Laurentia take it off and anyway, she accepted it because she says it has a 'district 4 feel'. After all my tears had run out, I got out of the shower and put on some underwear and got in bed. I couldn't sleep. I had to prove myself to the game-makers in the next 3 days. So I imagined being back home. On the beach with the warm sand beneath my feet and the salty spray of the ocean waves, and I finally fell asleep.
