When the light fades out of the day
you are there for me.
When my body trembles in fear
and I'm too scared to move
you are there to hide and protect me
like a mother with her child.
When the rain falls down
and the thunder rises
you are there to comfort me.
Not the light.
When I was scared of the monster under the bed

to keep me from seeing my nightmare.
You cast a shadow in the daylight
to keep me from being lonely.
You are an endless void of nothing,
yet you hold so much beauty and power.
Though the light may come and go
