"Was South Dakota interesting?"
"Yeah." she replied. "it was beautiful."
Dom smirked and sipped his beer and looked up from the porch. Tina had set down her beer and now she was drinking juice. Like Dom said, every night, him and Tina would always go outside and look at the stars while everyone's asleep. Dom kissed her forehead and pointed at the constelation, Leo.
"That lion is your favorite, right?"
"Yeah. and your favorite is Gemini."
"Right."
It was quiet for some time before Dom sighed.
"I love you."
Tina woke up and sat up straight like lightning, gasping for air. the bed was empty and Tina remembered how her day went. that dream wasnt real. it was something from the past, something she wished she couldnt remember. She hasn't heard those three words come out of Dom's mouth for years! Tina dries off the sweat off her forehead and walked out the room. The house was dark and outside you could hear the beach and the waves. Tina feels the cool breeze on her heated and sweaty skin and sighs. She heads out to the porch only to find someone already there.
Dom was looking down at the waves crashing against the rocks down below. he was quiet and looking down at pictures he had taken out of Letty's box. One picture was of Letty when she was four and Tina was three. Letty was holding her little sister but had some trouble since she was too small to carry her baby sister. Tina's hair was very short but long enough to put it up in cute little pig tails. Back then, Tina had a hint of blond in her thin hair and now it was dark, thick, and had slight curls. She still had her brown eyes with the hint of gold and Letty looks exactly the same, only younger. Dom slightly turns his head at the quiet sound of Tina's bare feet walking over the wooden floor. He didnt smile or anything, he just turned his head back to the waves and Tina walked closer to him and sighs."That picture happened after we met Mia. If you look closely, you can see you and your dad working on a car."
Dom looked back down at the picture and squinted his eyes at the background. Tina was right. There was a younger Dom running around a car while his father was working under the hood. Dom nods and sets the picture aside. he stares up at the stars and breaths deeply through his nose.
"Can i still trust you?" he simply asks.
Tina stares at the back of his head and then up at the stars with him. they were pretty and there was a lot of them but they reminded Tina of last night's dream. she shook the thought away and sighed.
"I don't know..."
"Well, at least your being honest."
Tina scoffs and joins Dom on the balcony as he looks out at the city. Tina takes the picture Dom had set down into her own hands, examining it as much as he did before her. she looks up to Dom and set the picture down again.
"Do you still want to trust me?"
"...Yes...i gotta trust my sister somehow." he says still trying not to smirk.
Even after theyve been through the past week, he still calls her a sister. Tina just nods. "Then i will try not to mess up."
Dom looks at her and looks down at the floor to think.
"When we were driving away from the cops, you knew they wouldnt actually follow us, did you."
"No they werent gonna blow my cover. i havent been in the field long, but i at least know how to handle a gun."
"First mistake i made with you." Dom remembered. "Man, you even sound like a cop now."
"I try my best not to. i hate it." Tina reassured.
As soon as she said that, Dom knew he could still trust her. he lets out a big sigh through his nose and brings out a chain necklace from his pocket. It was his silver cross necklace that he had once given to Letty. The studded, silver cross shined brightly in the moonlight. Tina gives Dom a confused look as he spoke.
"I want you to keep it safe. i only want you to have it, no one else."
Tina nods and pulls her hair to one side and turns her back to Dom so he could clasp the chain around her neck. only for a second, did Dom's hand brush against her cold neck as he put the necklace around her. his touch on her neck sent shivers down her spine. If Dom trusts her still, it means she at least still has a family to look out for, right?
