The annoying marimba ringtone of my cellphone jolted me awake from my deep slumber. I was tangled up in my sheets, so it took me a lot of silent cursing and flailing to get out of the fort of sheets. I quickly grabbed the phone and slid my finger across the screen, raising it to my ear, ready to yell at whoever it was that had decided to ruin my sleep when---
"Hello?"
Her voice rang through my eardrums, and I closed my open mouth.
"Hey. You okay? What's wrong? What's the time?" I said at once and removed the phone to hurriedly glance at the screen. 3:26 am. I immediately raised my phone to my ear.
"I'm so sorry. It's so late. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have called. You were probably sleeping. Wait, who am I kidding? You were definitely sleeping. Gosh, I'm so stupid. This is so stupid. I'm so sorry. Goodnight." She spoke even faster than me and I knew she was about to hang up when I yelled, "No!" I immediately quietened down a little and whispered into the mouthpiece.
"No. Wait, don't hang up. What is going on? Are you okay?"
Nothing. Silence on the other end.
"Hel-"
"No." Her voice was so weak, unlike I have heard all in our times spent together.
"What? What is it?" I asked her softly.
"I don't know. I can't sleep. I just wanted someone to talk to me." She said.
I knew she didn't want to tell what was wrong with her, so I didn't push her. She'd tell me when she wanted to.
"Okay. What do you want to talk about?" I asked her.
"Really? You're gonna talk to me at 3:30 in the morning even when I woke you up?" Her tone was surprised.
"Of course. Tell me, did you watch the last episode of Criminal Minds?"
She laughed and I felt relieved. It was gonna be a blissful night now.

When I woke up the next day, I grabbed my cellphone and swiped at the lock screen. Her message awaited me.
"Thank you for tonight. I am not too good with my words, but let me assure you, this late night call wasn't the first and last one. I'm pretty sure it will happen again in the future. All the love. X."
I chuckled at her Harry Styles reference. Oh yes, it was gonna happen in the future. And I wanted it to happen again and again and again and again.
