The week passes by in a blur, and I still haven't found out how Mike looks like. Or Troy. I guess I'll find out who they are tonight at the party. Spencer and Caroline are both coming over, and I'm a bit nervous with my family and their behavior.I had warned them about no magic-using in front of them. A few years back, I had a party at one of our houses, but it wasn't as big as this one. Ceazar and Katerina were both practicing their magic, and they accidently let loose 2 mammoths into our living room. Of course everyone panicked- I mean, 2 extinct animals were right in front of them eating from our couch. We had to take away their memories, and move to a state that was miles away.
The bell rings and I rush down to get it, hoping that I'll get there before they meet any of my family members. But I'm already too late. Mom, in her weird clothes that include Genie pants, tons of costume jewelry, and a weird khaki shirt, stands in front of the opened door.
"Honey, are these your lovely friends?" Mom asks as she gestures towards a shocked Spencer, and a Caroline that's muffling her own laughter.
"Yes, Mom. I already told you they were coming." I say through gritted teeth.
"Oh, I must've forgotten. It's nice to meet you, girls." She says turning back towards them, with a broad smile.
"The pleasure is all ours." Spencer says, who recovered from her previous state.
"Well, come in, come in." I sigh, and make a gesture for them to follow me.
"Your mom looks pretty cool." Caroline says, breathless as we climb up the 4 sets of stairs.
I scoff and say, "I'm pretty sure 'cool' is not the word."
"You're house is so awesome! How'd you get a house like this built so fast when you moved in?" Spencer says, as she pushes her glasses up her nose.
"This house has been here for a long while. It used to be my grandparents'." Even though I barely know them, lying to them still pains me. Maybe.. maybe, I'll get to tell them my secret one day.
We reach my room and immediately head to my closet. I open the door to the small room, and they both gasp.
"Your closet."
"It's"
"It's"
"Heaven" They both say simultaneously, in awe. I roll my eyes with a smile and say, "Come on, we don't have long before the party starts."
An hour later, we are all ready and look fabulous. Spencer is in a black off-the-shoulder shirt that complements her smooth, flawless, pale skin, with ripped, tight skinny jeans. She paired off the look with gorgeous red pumps, and straightened her blonde hair. We kept her makeup light and natural, as she requested.
Caroline is wearing a burgundy one-strap dress that reaches mid-thigh and hugs her curves in all the right places, with black high heels. Her hair is done half up and half down in an elegant, yet sexy look. As for makeup, she has red lipstick on, golden eye shadow, and mascara.
I chose a mint green strapless dress that reaches right before my knee, and black pumps similar to Caroline's. My makeup consisted of a smoky eye shadow, pink lip gloss, and some blush, and I curled my chocolate brown hair.
"Guys, we look so good... Let's go get drunk!" Caroline whooped and we all laughed.
We all headed downstairs, just as we were leaving the house, Christiano and Dad stopped us.
"Where do you think you're going looking like that?" Christiano asked and crossed his arms protectively.
I roll my eyes and say sarcastically, "Where do you think we're going looking like that? Fishing in India? We're going to a party. " The girls muffle their giggles when they spot Christiano glaring at them. Spencer widens her eyes, and looks down.
Looks like someone likes Chris here, I think as I hide a smile.
"And when will you be back?"
"I don't know, when the party ends?" I say with a sigh. "Look, you know I love you and all that, but if we don't leave right now, we'll be late. So, BYE!!" I give him and dad a peck on the cheeks, and hurriedly grab the girls and go out before they stop us again.
"Your brother is hot." Caroline says, once we're in my car.
"Blekh. What do you think of him, Spencer?" I ask, as I look at her from the rearview mirror.
"Huh? Yeah, I guess." She blinks, and Caroline and I both laugh.
We reach the house in no time, and the party is already in full swing. It looks like any other high school party, with couples making out everywhere and red and blue cups spilled on the lawn. The house- mansion is huge, and looks very expensive. The kid must be loaded.
My nerves are jittery as I enter the house. It's not like I've never been to a party before, it's just that I still get very excited whenever I go to a party. The music is so loud inside, and even though the house is big, it still looks very crowded. The alcohol stench is in the air, and everyone is grinding on each other. I try taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, and head to the backyard, grabbing a closed beer.
His backyard consists of a large pool, and it's not as crowded as it was inside. Some people are in the pool, but others are just lounging around.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing alone out here?" A deep voice says from beside me. I look to my left and take a sharp breath. He has brown soft silky hair, with gorgeous green eyes. His sharp structure, and defined jaw line makes him look like he's been shaped by God himself. This, my friend, is a piece of artwork.
I'm brought out from my staring when he waves a hand in front of me. The guy looks amused, but there is a hint of concern in his eyes when he says, "Are you okay?"
No. No. I'm not. I clear my throat and say, "Yeah I'm sorry. What were you saying?"
"I was asking what you were doing here?" he says with a laugh. His laugh sounds melodic, like a harp playing against my ear.
"Just trying to get some fresh air. I'm Valentina."
"Troy, host of the party." He says gesturing to the house. Oh. So that's Troy.
"You have a nice house."
"Thanks. So, are you enjoying the party?"
"Yeah, we haven't been here too long, actually."
"We?"
"Mhm. My other two friends came with me, Caroline Donovan and Spencer Walker."
"Oh yeah, I know Caroline. Quiet the social butterfly." He says with a laugh and I join him. My heart skips a beat, when I hear his laugh again. "I don't think I've seen you around here before. It's a small town, everyone knows everyone. Are you new?"
"Yeah, moved in a couple weeks ago."
"And do you like it here?"
"I do, I really do." A couple moments of silence lies between us, but it's not an awkward one. It's comfortable.
"I have to go now, but I'd love to see you again. Maybe we can hang out outside of school?"
Is that a date. Oh my Cheeseballs. When? Where? Oh my cheeseballs.
Stop overthinking it, he's probably trying to leave without making it look like he wants to bawl his eyeballs of boredom while sitting with you, the negative side of me thinks.
"Sure, I'd love that." And then with a smile, he turns and leaves.
