"Well, there was this one time where she had a huge fight with a girl that used to go to our school. it got so bad, the girl had to transfer school." she says, and I can hear a smile in hear voice.
Why would she be happy about something so horrible?
"What happened?"
"Nobody's sure, but Sky claimed that the girl stole her previous boyfriend that she was dating in the beginning of Sophomore year, before Troy. She said she saw them making out in the Chemistry Lab. The worst part is that the girl used to Sky's best friend."
"That's not so bad I guess. Why did she have to move away, though?"
"Sky posted a picture of the girl naked. I think it was photoshopped. The girl used to be so sweet and kind."
Sky is unbelievable. She doesn't deserve everything that she has. How can someone go to that point? I guess the girl really doesn't have limits.
"What was the girl's name?"
"Rebekah. Rebekah Halter Pierce."
My heart drops to my stomach and my blood runs cold as I hear the name.
Oh. My. God.
Rebekah, my best friend before I became a Wicce. My best friend from 600 years ago is alive.
"Thanks for the information." My voice sounds strained. I clear my voice and say, "I have to go now. I... I h have to start my article."
"Yeah, sure. Bye." She says it like she knew something is up.
I hang up and lock my door. Making sure that the walls are extra soundproof, I go back to my bed. I set out three candles surrounding me and put a picture of Rebekah between me and the candles. I, then, set out a map of the U.S.
"Unum in terra sancta . In oceano in montanis universisque aves volantes. Unum in terra sancta." Istart muttering the spell and repeat it under my breath over and over again. The candle wax starts dripping.
"Unum in terra sancta . In oceano in montanis universisque aves volantes. Unum in terra sanct." The white substance starts moving towards the map.
After a minute or so, the candle wax stops moving and rests in a place. I wipe off the wax and stare at where it stopped.
Rebekah is in Arizona. I guess I know where I'll be going to in the Spring Break.
"Please? Please? Please, please, please, please, please, please?" I plead.
I've been begging Katerina for an hour to come with me to Arizona. Mom won't let me go unless an adult is with me, and I'd rather Katerina over any of my other siblings.
"You know I can't leave Drake and Sarah behind just to go on a road trip. Plus, it'll be only the two of us, you'll have to bring a friend along with us."
"Does that mean you're coming?" I ask hopefully with my hands clasped together.
"No." She deadpans.
"Please? I'd really like it if you were to come. You're so fun!" I internally grimace at my kissing-ass-desperation. I never compliment someone to do something for me.
She rolls her eyes with a smile. "You must really want me to come to say that."
I decide to go with plan B; I try to look as dejected as possible and slump my shoulders. Sighing in defeat, I look back up to her. "It's okay. I guess I won't be going anywhere in the Spring Break while all my friends are having fun."
I turn back around and start to leave.
3...2..-
"Fine. I'll go with you. Just.. stop being so sad." she says defeatedly.
I smirk and turn around giving her a big bear hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
She laughs and says jokingly, "You little manipulative girl. You have to teach me those skills one day."
"Sure. As long as you teach me how to do that flying spell you once did when you were a senior."
She widens her eyes and turns back serious. "How did you know I did that?"
"Valentina knows everything." I rub my hands together with a smirk.
I had actually followed her in the middle of the night and saw her do it.
"You have to promise not to say that to anyone though." She holds out her pinkie and I lace mine with her's.
"I promise." I say with all my honesty before giggling with her again.
"I have to go to bed now, I have school tomorrow." I say with a tired sigh.
I head to my bedroom and change into comfortable clothes, then go to the bathroom. I brush my teeth, use my daily face cleanser, moisturize, and then jump back under the safety of my comforter.
I'll finally get to see Rebekah. We were so close when we knew eachother; we were inseperable ever since I first saw her sneaking into the local bakery. I still remember it as if it were yesterday.
Flashback
I hoist the bag of vegetables farther up so I have a good grip on it. Why can't Mother send Alexandro to get the provisions for dinner? Oh yeah, it's because of his stupid dumb exam. So send the 10 year old to get the heavy groceries. There was Christiano. Why couldn't he go get-
Thump!
My head turns to source of the sound. A girl my age with blonde curls lies on the ground with a muffin in her hand. I run over to her.
"What happened?"
"I was just trying to buy a muffin, but I didn't find the guy who works here. So, I decided to try to get in the bakery to ask him if I can buy one, then KABOOM!" she says waving her hands in a wide gesture. "When I'm climbing over the countertop, I slip and bring a few things down with me as I fall down. but at least the muffin didn't get dirty or ruined."
"You know, there is a back door to the bakery."
"But then, where would the fun be in that if I didn't have my little adventure?"
Finally! Someone who has the same idea of fun as I do.
"I'm Valentina."
"I'm Rebekah. You can call me Becca."
"And you can call me Val." I say, finding it fair for her to call me by my abbreviation.
"Do you wanna go on more fun adventures with me?" Rebekah asks with a mischievous look in her eyes.
"I would absolutely love that."
