I close my book, and mutter a curse. It's not my algebra or physics homework than I'm stressing over, it's the Incantation homework that I hate. Casting spells may look easy, but everything is in Latin, and some don't even make sense. We get The Incantations, which test your magic knowledge, every month. We start taking them from the age of 12, and stop at the age of 19. When you're 19 and have passed every incantation test, you are officially licensed as a Wiccé.
"Guys, everyone come down, it's time for dinner!" Mom announced, from downstairs. All 6 of my siblings live here in our Boarding House. Our house has 16 bedrooms, 3 floors, and all other kinds of awesome facilities, like small theatre. It's been around since forever. Since we're witches, we have to always move around, and this was the ever first house we got. So, every 2 generations we come back to this house. It'll always be my favorite, and it's where my heart belongs.
I go downstairs, and find everyone siting at the dining table. Of our siblings, there is Lorenzo (my twin), Ceazar (12), Christiano (22 in college), Katerina (30 married), Alexandro (35) married, Alessandra (4). Even though Alexandro and Katerina are married, their families and them live here. We're all very close.
I take a seat in front of Ceazer, and dig into my food. The cooks in our house are very talented.
"How was your first day?" Dad asks after taking a sip from his wine.
"I got into a fight with a guy, but I didn't use magic this time." Ceazar says with his hands up. Wiccés only stop growing if they're 15 or above.
"What makes you think getting into a fight is okay in the first place, never mind without using magic?" Meredith, Alexandro's wife, asks. We consider her our family, just as we do Drake, Katerina's husband.
"I never said it was okay, but I did do it. Anyways, Valentina," He steers the conversation away from him, "I think you shouldn't have used your magic in public today." He smirks, and puts both his hands under his chin.
I almost forgot about that. He just had to remind me in front of Mom and Dad.
"Mama mia, sí. That stunt you pulled in the morning, I was just telling you about how you weren't supposed to use magic, and then you vanish. Ti ho detto di non farlo, ma è solo-"
"Mi dispiace, ma. It won't happen again." Lorenzo looks at me gratefully as I cut Mom's rant short.
"That's what you always say."
I shrug, and then Katerina starts to talk about her day at work.
The next morning, I wake up early, and walk to school. It doesn't take long, only ten minutes. Once I get there, I head to my lockers, and grab everything I need.
"Hey, there." A voice startles me, and I close my locker. A blonde guy crosses his arms, and flexes them. He looks hot, but he's trying to hard. I raise an eyebrow as if to ask him what he wants.
"You're the new Italian chick, right?" I nod once, "I'm Jacob, I can show you around the school." He suggests with a smirk.
"Sure."
"So, I see you met Mike." Seriously, isn't there anything else the people here can do than talk about my two second encounter with the doofus.
"Technically, I didn't really meet him. He said that I was showing off, but I couldn't really pin-point who said it. But yeah, you can say that."
"Okay, Mrs. Smarty Pants." He says with a laugh, "but I think it would be better, if you don't actually meet him. He's a very big player, and will go at any length to try to get into your pants."
"I guess I'll just have to be careful then." I say with a smile.
"Also, there are a few other guys that you should be careful of. You're probably the only girl here who hadn't been banged, and it would be the goal for four guys to get you."
"Is this like some sort of game?" I ask in a disgusted tone.
"Yes." He answers not a second later.
"I see. Well, thanks my Guardian Angel." I say with a laugh. He joins me, but then his face turns serious again. "Seriously, though. Be careful, don't fall with them. They'll lure you in and then break your heart."
"It's okay, Dad. I'm a big girl. I've seen these kinds before, I won't fall for them."
We've completed a full round around the school, and we stop back at my lockers.
"Well, I have to go. I'll see you later." He says with a smile, and leaves.
There are only ten more minutes before school starts, so I walk around. I spot Caroline by her locker, and decide to head towards her.
"Hey!"
"Hi," I reply back, "I'm going out to this party on Friday night. At a guy's house, Troy. My friend, Spencer, told me about it. Will you come?"
"Of course I will. His parties are lit."
"Maybe you can come to my house, after school, and we'll get ready for it."
"I'll be there. But are you sure we won't have to go shopping for clothes?" She asks worriedly.
"Nah, don't worry. I'm pretty sure you'll find something at my house." Living for more than a half a century, has its benefits. Including owning more than a thousand dresses from every decade.
"Okay then." She chirps. "I'm heading to Chemistry, where are you going?"
"Chemistry!"
"Then, we shall begin our journey to Chemistry." She says with her hands on her hips.
I laugh and say, "It's only 2 feet away."
"Oh, whatever." She laughs. "Let's go."
I lace my arms with her's and we start walking. I really, really, hope I can stay here for a long while.
