A/N: I'm not sure if anyone still follows this story, but if so, I'm so sorry for the lack of updating! Life got in the way. I'm inspired to write, so let's hope it stays this way. Enjoy!
Surprisingly, the work day went by super fast. I spent a majority of it writing possible ideas for the "Thank You Note" segment.
When the clock hit 5, all of the writers packed up their things and began to head out the door. However, I planned on staying a little later to continue working on a skit I was coming up with. As everyone piled out, I noticed Ethan walking in my direction.
"
Oh boy," I thought to myself."Hey Gabby, staying late?" he asked, a flirty tone creeping over his voice that made me want to cringe.
"Uh, I mean, yeah I guess so. I was writing a skit so I just wanted to finish it." I shrugged.
"Oh well, I was wondering if I could take you out for a drink or something. Help you get to know the city, waddaya' say?" He asked, cocking his head and crossing his arms.
Trying to come up with a response, I peered my eyes over to the left and I noticed Jimmy standing by the door with a smirk on his face, clearly interested in where this conversation was going. How long had he been standing there?
"Uh, look Ethan, that's really, er-sweet? I guess? But I'm here to work, not date... so...," I tried to sound as assertive as I could, but these situations always make me feel so awkward.
"Oh come on, it's one drink. Won't kill ya, just go out with me," God he was persistent.
"Ethan, I already said--" I was cut off by Jimmy clearing his throat.
"Hey c'mon pal, she said she didn't want to. Let it go man," Jimmy said, firm but still so friendly.
"Oh , uh, Mr.Fallon, didn't know you were..." Ethan nervously giggled and turned on his foot, headed for the door. "I'm gonna go," He stormed out.
I couldn't help but giggle. "Thanks Mr.Fallon, he's so sleazy!"
Jimmy walked over and sat on my desk, crossing his legs. The proximity of him made my breath hitch, and I inhaled his sweet scent, getting a high out of it."Anytime Gab, but I told you to call me Jimmy," He said, pouting. "Don't make me feel so old!"
"Right, uh, sorry.... Jimmy."
"Much better. How was the first day?" He asked, genuinely, making hardcore eye contact. Does he act this way with all new writers? Maybe I shouldn't feel so special. He's just checking in on me, after all.
"It was good. Still writing though. Trying to make a good impression, I'm so grateful for this opportunity and I don't want to take a second of it for granted."
"Aw, I'm sure your work is great. Don't stress. You wouldn't have gotten the job if you weren't great," He said reassuringly, with a wink that made me flush. "Hey, why don't you take a break from writing and let me help you get to know the city?"
Right as I opened my mouth to kindly reject, he cut me off, adding,
"And trust me. My idea of helping you get to know the city is a lot different than Ethan's idea," He made a face of disgust. "I mean seriously, he might as well of just said he wanted to help you get to know his bed!"
Me and Jimmy both laughed out loud, and I shortly realized he was waiting for my response. As much as my head told me I should say no, as nervous and scared as I was, my mouth just muttered a soft,
"Okay..."
"Great! Let me just go get my things. I'll be back in five." He said with a huge smile, as he jumped off of my desk and headed out the door towards his office.
What did this mean? What should I think? I didn't have the answers to my own questions. He's my boss.. he's married.. should I really be hanging out with him outside of work?
Or maybe I'm reading too much into this... he could honestly just sense how awkward I am, and is genuinely trying to make me feel comfortable. Ugh.I don't know how long I was in my own head for, but my fluttering heart snapped me back to reality when a handsome Jimmy Fallon carrying, his satchel hanging across his body, popped into the doorway and excitedly said, "Ready?"
I inhaled a sharp, nervous breath, and replied,
"I am."
