Chapter 20-New Beginnings

***Three Years Later***

Cassidy's POV:
Today Eris turns 20. I can't believe how time has flown by. Just yesterday we were entering high school as freshman. Tonight, I'm throwing a surprise birthday party for her. I can't wait to see her tonight. It's gonna be lit.

Janet's POV:
The doctor told me that it was impossible for me to have kids. At first, I was glad that I couldn't have kids. That way my body wouldn't lose any of its curves. Now, I want a child. When I got pregnant, I was so excited. I was actually going to be a mom. Grayson wasn't as excited as I was. I knew that Grayson had lost all feelings for me but that didn't stop me from wanting him in our baby's life. That was years ago though.  Everything is different.
   "Yes I've been bleeding excessively and I don't know why. I'm not on my period cause I came here a few weeks ago and the nurse told me I was expecting. Can you take a look and see what's wrong doctor?" I ask Doctor Gaines. "Alright ma'am. If you will take this here gown and change in that room over there? Thank you very much." She hands me the gown. "Okay. Should I lay up here?" "Yes ma'am. Okay so when did this bleeding occur?" She asks getting out her clipboard. "It all started around yesterday at midnight. I was having pains and some blood was coming out and this morning there was blood everywhere. All over my bed sheets." I feel on my belly. "Okay let's lift your shirt up and see what's going on. Mhm. Ma'am, you said you were pregnant right? There appears to be no baby in your stomach. Not anymore. You have had a miscarriage I'm afraid." A miscarriage? No it can't be. This baby was supposed to be a miracle baby...
   Once I told Grayson about it. He didn't look the slightest bit upset. I guess he really didn't want the baby. That's probably why the baby didn't make it. It didn't have the same love from both parents. Grayson knew I was upset and he did comfort me. We were getting through this together, well at least I was. As soon as I thought things were going well for us, a month later I received divorce papers in the mail. Grayson had already signed his portion and wanted me to sign my portion. He wanted to wait for the right moment to break it to me. If he would've told me the day of the miscarriage, I wouldn't be here today. I decided to sign the papers. I knew I had to let him go. What use is keeping a man around that doesn't love you the way you do him?
   It's time for me to leave things in the past. It's a new year, it's a new me.

Grayson's POV:
Today is my princess' birthday. My girl turning 20. I remember when I met her when she was 17. The day she walked into Economics class. She was beautiful. I knew I had no chance with her cause one, I was married and two, she was my student and I was her teacher.
When she walked in, she was wearing these black skinny jeans. They had a rip on the left knee and one on the upper right thigh. Damn she was fine as hell in those jeans too. She wore a red crop top sweater and a necklace that said love. She had on some converse and wore a black beanie. She was completely my type. A girl that could dress like that and look good while doing it was my type of girl.
When I found out she liked me, my first reaction was a boner. I had to be the adult in the situation and turn her down but the more she kept pushing herself on to me, the more I started to like her. How could I push something that sexy away?
   Janet and I have officially divorced and I can finally be with Eris. I didn't leave Janet just because of Eris. I left her because I didn't truly love her. She wasn't the one for me. Our parents arranged for us to get married. I didn't even know Janet before the wedding. Next time, I'll decide who I want to marry.

Eris' POV:
   Today is my birthday! I'm 20. Goodness, time sure has flown by. Im in college now. I kinda miss high school. Now that I look back at it, I kinda miss waking up at 7:30am to get on that school bus. Hearing all the middle schoolers talking and laughing, meeting my friends in our usual spot to get breakfast, that was so much fun. Waking up on my own time is much better though. No screaming alarms, only when necessary.
   I eventually told my mom that I'm still going to chase after Mr.Dolan. I can't just abandon my feelings. She knows that Grayson didn't leave Janet because of me. Grayson explained the whole situation to her. My mom doesn't approve of him yet, but she will soon. She just needs to see him treat me right. Grayson and I haven't started dating yet, we've been getting to know each other more, but I sure hope we do soon. He's everything I want and need. No one is going to get between us.
   Since today is my birthday, Grayson and I are going out for lunch. He told me he has something super fun prepared for me. I can't wait! I can't believe I'm spending my birthday with him. It's like a dream come true. We didn't get to spend Valentine's Day together because of Janet. I wanted to lose myself to him on that day..I was ready to...

   I've moved out of my mom's house and into my own. I left the house when I turned 19. I found a very  cheap apartment and it was to my liking. I've been living on my own for about a year now. I'm still getting used to living on my own though. Every now and then Grayson comes over to see how I'm doing. Occasionally my mom and Grayson run into each other while there at the house. The atmosphere is always so awkward so I have to break the silence. Grayson stayed over the first night I moved in. Not only was I scared of being in my own home for the first time, but I was also sleeping with Grayson. It seemed as if we were newly weds. It was a beautiful feeling.

   Oh yea, Raven and Leo got together. She had such a deep hatred for Leo, but now she's kissing him all over the face. Disgusting. I'm glad she's happy with him, but I wish she would've told me before hand. One day I saw them being all lovey dovey in the car when I was walking home from college. I stood there shaking my head. She eventually told me about it and she was completely shocked when I told her I already knew about it.
   I told Raven all about Mr.Dolan and I and she's cool with it. Now that we aren't in high school anymore, I don't have to worry about rumors spreading or Grayson getting fired from his job. We can be together freely and that's how I like it.

   "Babe, you ready?" Asks Grayson. "Grayson I'm always ready. Let me just put on some lipstick." I apply my lipstick and see Grayson standing in my bedroom doorway. "It's gonna come off later tonight when I'm done with you. So are all those clothes." He winks and heads out of the room. "You wish babe. You're not getting any of this you hear me!" I shout dropping my lipstick onto the floor. Great now it has dust on it. He makes me so upset but so happy.
"I'm leaving you." He grabs my car keys. "How are you gonna leave me? You're going in my car. Where's your car? Oh yea. In the shop. Give me these."I try to get the keys but he lifts them above his head. He's always teasing me. "Give me them! Stop teasing Grayson! I'm serious!" I stop and continue to look at the dangling keys above his head. He kisses me on the cheek. "Let's go baby." He says to me. We exit my apartment and get into my car. He opens the door for me like the gentleman he is.
   I can't help but look at him while we're in the car. He puts his hand on my thigh and squeezes it. I let out a giggle. "Stop that's where I'm the most ticklish."I say trying to move his hand. "Oh yea? That's where my hand is gonna be all night." He winks at me. "Just keep your eyes on the road." I say turning my head to look out the window. In the window reflection, I can see him smirking.
