*Lacey's pov*

Alexander just finished showing me around the neighborhood when he asks "Do you want to go to the mall, then watch a movie with some friends?"

I thought about it and I really couldn't come up with an excuse. "Alright, but I'm bringing some of my friends." He nods his head, "yeah sure." By a couple of friends, I mean my squad.

I pull out my phone and text the group chat. "THE VEGETABLES." That was the squad's name/group chat.

THE VEGETABLES
Me: hey fam, let's go to the mall with one of my neighbors in a few.

I instantly get texts back and the dinging was getting annoying so I put my phone on vibrate.

THE VEGETABLES
Cindy: sure
Ashley: I'm in!
Emily: ok, I'll meet you there in 10
Tracey: yeah, Emily, can you give me a ride?
Emily: sure Tracey
Cole: alright, Melanie give me a ride
Melanie: okay Cole, I will.
Julian: yep, I'll see you all in a few
Connor: okay, see you all soon

Let me introduce you to THE VEGETABLES.
(It's in all caps because we are all usually screaming)

Cindy has been my friend since we were three. She is Salvadorian, has curly dark brown hair, and is about an inch or two taller than me. She's my sister in the squad.

Ashley is Dominican. I met her last year. She has short, brown, straight hair, and is shorter than me. She's my potato twin in the squad.

Emily is also a friend I have known since I was three. She is Mexican, has dark brown, medium sized wavy hair, and is about the same height as me. She's my aunt in the squad.

Tracey is like the mom in the squad. I met her last year. She's American and Nicaraguan. She has long black straight/curly hair (depends on what she does with it), and is shorter than me.

Julian is around my height. He had straight, black hair that stops on his ear. He is Salvadorian and wears glasses. He is my twin in the squad.

Cole is a friend I met this year. He has straight, chestnut brown hair that goes a little lower down his ear. He is about my height and is pansexual. We all accept him.

Connor is a friend that I've known for a while, but didn't get close until this year. He goes out with Tracey.

You all already know Melanie, the white bitch.

"Lacey," Alexander speaks to me, breaking me out of my thoughts. "What?" I ask.

"First, let's ask my older brother to drop us off, and second, I'm bringing some of my friends." More people? Really? Ughh!! I get nervous and anxious.

"Okay," is all I say. We walk back home and tell our mom's we won't be here for dinner. They're fine with it.

Alexander's older brother, Andrew, greets me with a huge smile and a hug. Oh alright a hug..wtf I'm so awkward.

He looks happy, something I wish I was.

I sit in the back seat, followed by Alexander, who also sits in the back with me. Noo get away. I move as far away as possible.

It was quiet at first, until Andrew started telling me about himself. He's 18 and has a girlfriend of two years. Andrew told me that for college, he wanted to be a psychiatrist. He want to be a psychiatrist because, quote, "I want to be able to help other people who suffer from depression and all that. I knew people who were suicidal and I changed their ways of thinking, including my girlfriend. I love knowing that I saved someone's life, so why not use my time to help others? It's an amazing feeling that you, personally, saved a LIFE!!" I didn't really know how to respond so I just nodded my head.
