I was ready by 7:30 - black off shoulder dress, some old but fab heels my mum had given me and a clutch bag I got a while ago. Usually my makeup looks really bad, especially for school, but today it seemed to cover up every spot, bag, line and dark area on my face to the point that I looked selfie decent. I decided to go for something a bit different, adding a grey shimmery eyeshadow and an eyeliner flick (with the help of my mum). Instead of having my hair naturally curly, I straightened it out to its length, which surprisingly was mid back. I felt overdressed, considering I'm not really the type of person to be all out there, but I felt good about it. I was hoping jack would too.
I hadn't been to a real house party like this, especially out of town. The biggest house party I had been to was my cousins boyfriends, and it was pretty much a family. The rest were more like squad sleepovers and stuff. A bottle or two of wine to share but we weren't those mad teens that get drunk out of their minds every weekend, in a typical house party like the one I was attending that night. I felt as if all was about to change, and my parents clearly weren't happy about this.
"Robert, has she got your number"
"Of course she has, what kind of father would I be if she didn't"
"Alright I was just asking, KATYYYY" I heard my mums tired voice boom from upstairs, where she was sweating from exhaustion and anxiety about me going out. I hollered back to her and she legged it feebly down the stairs, her hands gripping my shoulders tightly, then weakly.
"I don't want you to come back pregnant, it's as simple as that" the heat bounced back from her throat onto my neck as she stressed the words from her tired mouth. I nodded and laughed, my brother blushing at the corner of my eye. The door knocked, making my mum jump out of fright. She gulped, taking her arms off me and dusting herself off awkwardly.
"Go on babes" she urged me over to the door. My brother and dad watched me from the top of the stairs whilst my mum pretended to dilly dally in the hallways to catch a glimpse of the boy. I walked towards the door trying to not break my ankles within the short space, finally opening it and revealing a handsome well tamed jack. I could smell his aftershave strongly, it smelt so good. His eyes lit up and a smile automatically drew upon his face as he saw me smile back. He was wearing a blue v neck with a white rim, blue skinny jeans and some vans. Very basic but nice. I pulled down my dress a bit as I felt so overdressed.
"You look beautiful" he finally said, eyeing me up. I felt my ears go hot with embarrassment, as I managed to spit out "you look really nice too" in a shy voice. He smiled and asked if I was ready which I was, so I picked my bag up and shut the door on my smirking embarrassing family. We walked down the walk way to his car and he politely opened the door for me before shutting it and getting into the other side.
"I feel so lucky" he shouted as he begin to start the car, making me laugh. I tapped his hand "I feel lucky too"
