"Oh my god." His brown hair complements my own black-brown hair. His skin is smooth, the smoothness of my own. Our eyes meet each other, mine black his digital-blue, I am speechless. "You are gorgeous, Donovan." I feel feathers in my heart, tickling it. He pulls me closer to him, or is he? He speaks pictures with those eyes, or does he? Thanks. You too. So can we go out of this lab now? I snapped out of my daze. I took a while to compose myself. "Oh, not yet." Why, Amanda? The world is a beautiful place. I have not stepped out of TRF since about 2 months ago. I've seen glimpses of the world from windows at the cafeteria (my lab is underground), and it is far from beautiful. I wanted to explore Donovan more, I knew if Steve saw I was done with creating the programme Donovan, he would assign the task of researching the sentience of Donovan to other people. Steve thinks I'm a subpar worker, but he has a contract with me so he can't just fire me. I'm going to make the research paper myself, I will not let anyone touch my creation unless I allow it."There's really not much out there."
There is, only if you believe. It's all about perception. To you, it may be nothing. But to me? It means a lot.
"I still don't see why you would want to go out there. You can search the web for pictures of the outside."
I want to be out there in the vast outdoors, instead of being cramped in this small lab. I want to explore, Amanda, don't you want to too?
I don't think I can argue with this highly-intelligent and highly-sentient robot. Plus, he has a point.
"Okay, but we can only go at around 4 am."
Why so?
"Because I said so. I am your maker."
The rest of the day was spent seeing if Donovan would pass the Turing Test. Of course he does. I decided to improve on the Turing Test myself by adding questions needing of higher sentience. He passes flawlessly.
"Turing test was too easy for Donovan. I added more advanced questions to test him. He talks completely humanlike. Also, he wants to go outdoors even though he can see pictures online. I'm not sure, is this humanlike?"
Amanda it's 4 am. Can we go?
