I slowly opened my eyes only to have a light shown in the them. I sit up quickly, startled and confused. Only to be pushed back down. My vision is fuzzy making it hard to see my surroundings.
Finally my vision starts to become clearer. Im in a gurney next to an ambulance with a middle aged man feeling my pulse. Thats when it all comes back. The ride, the power outage, the panic attack, and... It. My eyes widen at the recognition of what happened. How is it possible? Was my mind playing tricks on me or were my nightmares really coming to life?
Im broken out of thought by someone shouting my name. I turn towards the urgent yelling only to be suffocated by hug from none other than Chelsea. She looks at me giving a small smile, but there are tears in her eyes. My jaw practically drops at the sight of Chelsea crying. "Chelsea!? Are you crying?!" Chelsea crying is just about as rare as a dinasour. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But in the 10 years of our friendship I've seen Chelsea cry maybe...twice. Maybe. She nods her head and let's out a sniffle, "It was so scary! I didn't know what was wrong." I give her another huge hug.
After a few more little tests I'm let go. I climb off the gurney and begin to walk only to be stopped from a tap on the back. I turn around to see the worker who came to get me and Chelsea. I glance down at his name rage, "zac" he looks like a zac, with his shaggy brown hair and piercing green eyes. I suddenly feel very embarrassed to see him, he probably thinks I'm some sorta freak, I know I would "I just wanted to make sure you were okay, that was pretty scary." I smile at his kindness "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for your concern." I'm about to turn and walk away when he stops me, "I never got your name, I'm zac by the way" I give him yet another smile, " I'm Katherine, but my friends call me Kathy." "I like Katherine." he says with a smirk' "I'm glad you're okay, Katherine" I nod, "Thankyou Zac" he chuckles, waves goodbye and walks away.
Chelsea nudges me with her elbow, "I think he likes you" she says teasingly. I laugh and roll my eyes, "Yes. Because nothing says hot like panic attacks, screaming, crying, and passing out." We both start laughing and start heading to the car with Mrs. Lux.
The car ride home was just as long. It made it even worse that I couldn't sleep. Well I could but I don't want to take the chance of freaking out again.
When we finally get home I collect my things, say my goodbye's and Thankyou's, and trudge inside.
When I walk in the door I'm greeted by my parents, "How was your day?" my dad asks, I give him a believable smile, "It was good, just another day at the beach" I lie. I lie straight through my teeth. They didn't need to know what really happened. Again with the whole deep rooted issues thing. I say my good nights and start heading up stairs, "Goodnight! Sweet dreams!" my mom calls to me, "Yeah right." I mumble under my breath.
When I finally get upstairs I'm much to scared to sleep, even though my eyes feel like they are a hundred pounds. But after a while I can't fight it anymore and slowly drift off to sleep
The room is pitch black. The only thing I can see is a book lying on the ground a couple feet away. It seems to have this glow about it. I start walking towards it. But it seems to take eternity. My feet feel like they weigha thousand pounds. When I finally reach it, my finger tips just barely brush it before everything begins to shake, causing me to lose my balance. I fall to ground. Then they are all around me. They all have the same sinister smiles and dark faces. But they are all different somehow. I don't know how, but they just are. Almost like they have the same intentions but they are different people...or things. They all start chanting my name. I begin begging them to stop, I beg with everything I have. Tears are streaming down my face and they are laughing at me. "it's almost time" they say. I scream "No!" I cover my ears. And just as suddenly as it started it stops. It stops so suddenly that it doesn't seem real. They just disappeared, and everything becomes silent. Then I'm falling. The floor just opened up, swallowing me. I'm falling into a never ending pit of nothingness.
I wake up to my body hitting the floor. I'm on the floorr tangled in my blankets and i'm screaming. I quickly stop my screaming and try to stand only to fall again. Suddenly my dad burst through my bedroom door with baseball bat, looking frantically around. Then his eyes land on me. He lets out a sigh of relief, "Jesus Kathy! You scared the living daylights out of me!" I smile sheepishly up at him, "I fell" he lets out a laugh, " Okay. Okay. Go to bed" he turns to leave, but before he makes it out completely he turns to me one last time, "Try not to hurt yourself." he says with a laugh. I nod laughing at him. Once he leaves I crawl back into bed. My dream changed.
The rest of the night I just keep tossing and turning. Only one thought is running through my head,"What do these dreams mean?"
