Chapter 16

Monica's POV
It was now New Year's Eve. Felix and Marzia should be here soon. Mark was over with Jack setting up so I could get ready. I got my dress on and my shoes then went to the bathroom to do my makeup. I started my hair and it took me so many tries and I still couldn't get it. I let out frustrated sigh as I let my hair fall back down.
"Need help?" A voice asked, scaring me.
I looked at the door and saw Mariza.
"Please." I said with a tired smile.
She rolled my desk chair in and she had me sit in it. I told her how I wanted my hair in a bun with a braid.

Jack's POV
Mark, Felix, and I were standing in the kitchen when Marzia walked in the door.

"Where did you go?" Felix asked.
"I went to check on Monica, she should be here soon." Marzia said.
"Sorry, I didn't expect to take that long." I look up to see Monica walking through the door. She was wearing a blush dress with her hair up.
"Jack close your mouth." Marzia said as she put her hand under my chin and closed my mouth.

Marzia just laughed and walked over to Felix. Monica walked over to me and smiled.

"Surprise." She said.
"You look amazing." I said.
I heard Mark clear his throat and I saw Monica give him a side glance causing him to chuckle.
"Hey Felix!" Monica yelled.
"Yea?" he asked.
"Toss me a pillow." Monica said.
Just like that Monica was tossed a pillow and she held it up like she was going to hit Mark.
"Don't you dare..." Mark threatened.
"Or what...?" she asked.
"Surprise attack!" I yelled and started tickling her.

She squeaked in surprise and we fell to the floor.

"I hate you..." she mumbled.
"You know you love me." I mumbled as I kissed her neck.
"Oh get a room." I heard Felix say.
"Says you who does the same thing to Marzia." I heard Mark say.

We all just laughed. It was great to be surrounded by friends. We were playing video games and Monica decided she wanted to finish her run of Until Dawn. By the time she finished and it was an hour till midnight. I got up off the couch and got some water. When I went to go back to Monica and saw she was falling asleep on Mark's shoulder. Mark looked over at me and mouthed 'sorry'. I just laughed quietly and we watched Felix play Outlast.

*timeskip*

There were only a few more minutes till midnight.
"Monica..." I whispered. I was kneeling on the floor in front of her. Mark moved because we were all heading outside for fireworks.
"Hmm...?" she groaned. Her eyes opened slowly and looked over at me.
"C'mon. It's almost midnight." I explained. I got up as she was sitting up and I helped her up and took her hand. We walked outside and were hit by a wall of cold air. I felt Monica get closer to me, so I took my suit jacket off and wrapped it around her.
"No, I'm fine." She said tiredly and started taking it off. She looked up at me and she started to blush.

Monica's POV
Jack looked at me and I quick looked at the ground when I felt my face heat up.

Jack took my hand and started to rub the back of it with his thumb.
Four
I looked up at him and his blue eyes stared into my eyes giving me butterflies.
Three
I let out a nervous laugh, why am I nervous? I've kissed him before...
"Two..." I whispered.
Except this time... I think it's going to be different...
"One..." he whispered.
I closed my eyes when I felt his lips touch mine. It was a slow kiss and it was making my stomach somersault again. I pulled away, but I kept my forehead against his so we were still close. I heard music playing loudly so it could be heard over the fireworks. It was "Tell Her You Love Her," by Echosmith.

"Monica..." Jack said quickly as he lifted his head so he could look in my eyes.
"Yea..." I whispered.
"Will ya be my girlfriend?" Jack asked.
"Is that even a question?" I asked with a smile, gaining a smile from him.
"I love ya, Monica." He said.
"I love you too, Jack." I said and he kissed me again.

Mark's POV
I was at the doors to go back inside when Jack got Monica to come out before midnight. He put his jacket around her and she was starting to protest. I smirk at her defiance. I knew what Jack was gonna do. Except he didn't have time to give me his phone. I took my phone out of my pocket and got ready to take a picture.

"One!" I yelled with Felix and Marzia.

They kissed and just as a firework exploded I took a picture. It was a great pic and I sent it to Jack right away.

I'll admit, I think it's cute that they like each other. I mean it's weird that she likes my best friend but I think it's adorable now.

Now I'm just worried about PAX.

"They're so cute." I heard Marzia say as she and Felix came closer to me so I could hear them over the fireworks. 
"Sorry you have to be the 5th wheel, Mark." Felix said with a smirk.
"Oh shush." I said causing us three to laugh.
