7: My shoes aren't that bad.

Well.. This is awkward. Here I am, standing on the sidewalk, seeing someone else's body lay crippled on the sidewalk, and a window broken and shattered. This girl- this impostor, this fake, was wearing my clothes. Not to mention the wrong shoes which were slightly offensive. Red converse? Please. Everyone knows I only wear white or purple. The mud collected on the shoes also offend me. I take much better quality of my shoes than that. The girl lying in front of me had my black hair, all ratted around her shattered skull. Her NASA tee-shirt was becoming stained with he blood seeping from her chest and stomach. Her torn jean shorts kept her broken bones poking out with no cover. Her glossy eyes, were mine. I was staring at my exact double who just hit the ground like an egg. My expensive leather jacket was ruined.

I looked at my own body. I seemed to be sound, despite the fact my clothes were ripped and stained in the same places as her's. My shoes however, were my fantastic colour of purple. I was spared. I wanted to inch closer and examine this odd phenomenon but I could sense people staring at me in confusion. I decided to split the scene before things got too hairy. I texted my friends quick in case they saw on TV my exact double just died and flipped out. They fortunately had no idea of the incident yet, and some didn't respond yet due to work, or school. I ran home to change my clothes but made sure not to ruin any clues that could be seen on. I only had an hour of clue finding until I was needed for my class. Faith and Rey were the only ones able to talk, but for some reason I found my trust in them sliding. I knew they both were crazy about Faye, and it almost felt like Faye was trying to kill me! Faith gave me the room number as well. I sighed heavily to my lonesome self in a small, cramped, apartment bedroom. I wondered if I was going to tell my friends of my 'near death' experience. Knowing them, they'd flip out and want to dissect me. I thought better of it. I pushed my clothes to the side and focused on getting to school instead.

As I sat in my class and listened as my professor talked, I felt the difficulty of paying attention. How was I supposed to be taking notes when all I'm doing is doodling aliens in my notebook. I was starting to turn into Faith.I kept bouncing my left leg as my nerves wouldn't settle down. I felt my neck starting to hurt as I switched from the smart board, to my notes. Then also trying to listen to my professor's lecture at the same time. He talked like he had to explain the whole civil war in under a minute.  He was describing constitutional rights journalists had apparently, but all I could make out was those three words. Suddenly my phone started to buzz and flail like a dying fish on my desk. Quickly I looked at the screen to see Faith's picture come up. I silenced it and tucked in my bag before any heads could turn. I continued writing and listening.

"Now. If we were to revert our focus onto the right its self, we would find rather interesting details people look pa- Oh, hello." He stopped mid-lecture and looked toward the door as it opened. I felt my face creep red with embarrassment. Faith and everyone else was standing there, waving at me. I did not agree for there stupid alien stuff to take me out of school.

"No. Go away." I scolded at them. I could already sense confused and entertained glances aimed at me.

"We need to go. Now. This is extremely important- I'm sorry Professor Burk for the intrusion." Faith sternly appointed, walking in, and grabbing my arm. I was pulled out of class before I could even struggle.

"What. are. you. doing! I have an exam coming up and I need to pass this class!" I hissed, trying to jerk my arm away from Faith's steel-grip.

"We found it," she replied, almost jumping out of her shoes in excitement.

"What? Found what?"

"The TARDIS," Jake interrupted, he was equally as excited as Faith.

"The what?"

Astrid jumped in with her news,"the police box! They called it a TARDIS. Also, that guy they travel with, he's the Doctor!"

"How did you guys discover that? Who called it what? Where is it?"

"That's why we need you," Astrid interrupted, stopping us outside campus and by a tree. "We're breaking into a police base."

"Hah. We? No. You." I ripped my arm from their grasps and started to walk away, they were beyond crazy. I wasn't risking my life to jump into a government owned base just for some "alien" box. I was starting to believe everything could be logically explained.

Astrid grabbed my arm lightning fast, "no. We're going. I already know you'll agree to it, because if you don't, the whole being of time will fall apart."

"What?"

"Nevermind. You're coming," Astrid ended the argument and pulled me along. Stubbornly I followed knowing I had the slight want for some adventure as well. Astrid continued our walk to a parked car. It was a sleek, red sport car. Despite my thoughts of how cool it'd be to drive around in it, Astrid's car wasn't big enough for all of us, which meant Jake had to stretch over two of our laps. That was mine and Rey's. His elbow was jabbed into my theigh with his head resting on his hands.

Innocently, he looked up at me and said, "The view is beautiful from down here."

I rolled my eyes and dug my knee into his elbow, making his head fall on my lap. That was a mistake. My face grew red and I squealed loudly.

"Uh, you two want a room?" Astrid smirked, I gave her a warning glare. Jake stretched across my lap more, resting his hands on his chest like a corpse. His spiky hair was in a complete mess and his bartender outfit was still on. Astrid was a crazy driver, espically when it came to hunting down alien things. She flung to the right, hugging the corner like a long lost friend. Her back wheels fishtailed as she steered us straight again. I was flung to the side of the car, along with Jake. His feet hit Rey's stomach and she let out a squeak. Faith's voice was giggling from shotgun.  I rested my head against the back of the seat, feeling the aftermath of whiplash effect my neck. The car ride was the worst. I was unsure how Astrid even got a driver's license. However, she soon hit the breaks sharply behind an old apartment building, sending us jolting forward. Faith sprang quickly into action and chucked clothes at us.

"These are not the clothes I instructed," Rey whined, pulling up a dark navy blue lab coat with an attached ID card. The bottom of the lab coat was decorated with three parallel white lines. It looks like a navy outfit for a scientist.

"That's Blake's, silly," Faith gestured to the ID card with my picture on it, reading "Dr. Ryker. Class A" and a bar code.

I took it awkwardly and looked at the card, "What does Class A mean..?"

"It means you got clearance to basically any room."

"What about you guys?" I asked. Faith pulled up military outfits. They were grey camouflage styled with the same colour blue, three lines down the cuffs. Jake was given one, along with Rey and Astrid. Faith was my nurse apparently.

"This isn't going to work.." I mumbled, "where's Faye?"

"Faye is supposedly meeting us there.. she said to keep going in if we don't meet her at the door."

"Great..."

"Alright guys, who's ready to break into a secured government owned facility with the possibility of being caught and put into jail for the rest of our natural  lives?" Faith grinned widely, her enthusiasm scared me. They all cheered in matching enthusiasm, even Astrid.

I was going to die a second time, with my criminal friends.
