"I can't just not be a hunter. And I can't just tell her everything about this life and have her come on the road with me and stay in dingy motels. She deserves more." I stated sadly.
"Then quit."
Caitlyn's POV
It was quiet, too quiet. Maybe I had shocked Dean right out of his pants with the little stunt I pulled.
I walked out of my room to see Sam leaning over the island and Dean finishing breakfast. I walked over to the island and sat down on one of the bar stools.
"Mhhm, what we eaten?" I asked Dean, whatever it was smelled amazing.
"How does bacon, eggs and biscuits sound?" he asked. He wouldn't look at me. I felt hurt, maybe I went overboard with teasing him.
"Sounds amazing." I said cheerfully, easily hiding what I really felt.
Sam sat down at the other bar stool beside me. He leaned close and kissed my forehead. He tried to do that to me every day, either when it was at school or when he was over here. Jess didn't mind, she knew that I was practically his sister. He knew about my family and wanted to make sure I was loved enough.
"Good morning, Cat." he said. I looked at Dean, he had a hint of jealousy in his eyes.
"Mornin'." I said.
"So Cat..." Dean said. "Tell me something about yourself."
"What would you like know?" I asked while stuffing my face with biscuit. "And FYI, you're staying and make breakfast from now on." I finished with a little chuckle.
"Um... Tell me about your family. What are they like?" he asked.
"Um... Well..." I started but Sam cut me off.
"Cat you don't have to say anything. Dean ask another question." he commanded.
"No, no it's alright, it's nothing too big." I said. "Um... My dad died in a car accident when I was 14. Mom died when I was 18, murdered, never been solved. Brother... he's two years older and he went into the military a month after mom died, currently in Afghanistan. He didn't even tell me he was going, I found a note the morning after he left. I moved here when I got the acceptance letter, he doesn't even know I got into Stanford. Haven't talked since he got in, I tried for a couple months after he left, and then just gave, not even his buddies had talked to him.
"Sam here became my family when I met him," I said, pointing a thumb at Sam beside me. "And when he met Jess, she was kinda adopted in the weird family."
"Yeah when she first told me about Shane, he brother, I was so mad. How could he just leave her when she was in that much pain?" Sam said, giving me a little side hug. "You should have seen her, all moody, and mean, not much has changed." he finished with a smile, cowering away, knowing I would hit him. I punched him in the gut. That's what the little butthole gets.
"Oh and don't worry you don't have to tell me about the family stuff." I addressed towards Dean. "Sam already told me, Mom died when you were five, Sam was just a baby, and then you and your Dad left to go into the family business when you got older. The traveling family mechanics, so I've heard, and Sam stayed to go to college."
"Yep, that pretty much how it goes." Dean said while I finished my food.
"Where did you learn to cook?" I said giving a moan of pleasure finishing my last bite.
"Mom, she used to tell me, "The woman you marry will need you to take care of her, and the best way is to her stomach," so I learn to cook with her."
"Amen to her, I would have loved to meet her, she sounds like a wonderful woman from what Sam tells me." I say.
"She would have loved you, wouldn't she Sam?" Dean said, not taking his eyes off me.
"Yeah she would have." Sam agreed with a smile, as if he was remembering his mother.
"Guys, come on, you're making me blush. I'm not that great." I say looking down at the table trying to hide the redness on my cheeks.
"Not that great? Cat, you're amazing, and I haven't had the pleasure of knowing you as long as Sam has, but I know one thing, and that is that you are spectacular." Dean says, making my cheeks redden even more.
"Okay quit, too many chick flick moments going on right now." I said, finally controlling my blush. Sam and Dean look at each other with a look of disbelief on their faces.
"Oh yeah, you and him," Sam says, pointing at me and Dean. "will get along great."
After having a couple beers and cleaning up the kitchen, we heard a knock on the door.
"Are you expecting someone?" Dean asked a little wearily.
"No, not that I know of." I said, with a little shrug.
Dean walked hesitantly to the door, slowly opening it.
"Hello, is Caitlyn Pierce home?" I heard a deep voice say from the door.
"And who might you be?" Dean asked the man.
"I'm Shane Pierce, her brother." he said, and I about fell on the floor.
"Shane?" I asked, not believing that my big brother who I haven't talked to in years is standing in my doorway.
